Located in the Pernera area of Protaras in south-eastern Cyprus, the well-appointed Villa Dianthe is just a short walk from some wonderful beaches. A modern villa which can accommodate up to four guests, Villa Dianthe impresses with its beautiful terrace with outdoor pool.
Centrally located with bars, restaurants and shops just a 5-minute walk away, this villa is ideal if you don’t want to drive everywhere you go. The outdoor area with pool offers privacy and seclusion, and has several sun loungers. The house also offers an outdoor dining space in a separate area.
Inside, there is a spacious, open-plan living area which has a large, comfortable sofa and armchair, a coffee table and widescreen TV with satellite channels, as well as a dining table with seating for six. The kitchen forms part of the same area, and is equipped with a dishwasher, large fridge freezer and other appliances. The villa also has air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. There are two stylish bedrooms at Villa Dianthe, each with its own en suite shower room. Each room has a double bed and plenty of storage.
This villa is the ideal holiday home for those wishing to explore the many beaches of Protaras, as well as the nearby Cape Greco National Park. As well as excursions to its famous sea caves and the Blue Lagoon, you’ll be able to enjoy forest walks and cruises along this beautiful stretch of coast.

Just south of Protaras, Cape Greco is where cliff divers, snorkellers and scuba divers head for. It’s famed for its sea caves and the crystal clear Blue Lagoon – boat trips to see them up close are a popular visitor attraction. The area also offers lots of beautiful countryside for walking, with scenic picnic spots and hiking trails through its stunning pine forests.
The sheer number of beaches in and around Protaras means that, even if one is particularly busy, there will be many that are quieter. Try Serena Bay or Kalamies Beach, if the famous Fig Tree Bay is too crowded.
Tour the area with a knowledgeable local guide and you can really get to know it inside out. Among those on offer are Jeep safaris, boat trips, catamaran cruises and food tours. The area produces good honeys, olives, cheeses and great wine, and there’s no better way to boost your knowledge of Cypriot food and drink.
Ayia Napa, not far from Protaras, has a number of interesting historic and cultural attractions. There’s a 16th-century monastery and the Makronissos Tombs, as well as a fascinating museum, the Thalassa Museum, based around the sea. About an hour up the coast, the infamous ‘ghost town’ area of Famagusta, abandoned in 1974 following a Turkish invasion, gives an interesting insight into Cyprus’ more recent past – although you can only view it from afar.
Close to the airport in Larnaca, you have all sorts of entertainment venues as well as the large Salt Lake, a significant area of wetland with flamingos and other birds. A short drive from the city, the Camel Park has more than 100 species of animals and 60 camels, all with different names. About 35 minutes’ drive from Protaras, the CyHerbia Botanical Park & Labyrinth incorporates a stunning set of gardens and areas of woodland. The park is particularly pretty in summer when the lavender is in season.
If you’re travelling with kids, the resort of Ayia Napa adds even more attractions, with its big amusement and water parks, family restaurants and beach playgrounds.
