Situated in over 20 hectares of fields and rolling green meadows, and overlooking the famous Dordogne river is the superb, secluded Chateau de Viresco. The chateau is blessed with reddish stone archways, elegant terraces, an above ground private pool and can comfortably accommodate up to 14 guests. A maid service is covered in the rental fee and should your party wish, a chef can be organised to cook dinners and lunches. When you stay, owners Hubert & Christine would be delighted to share their knowledge of the Perigord region over a chilled glass of champagne. They will also be pleased to offer advice on the local area and make any reservations that you may require. A guided tour of the Château de Commarque – the ancestral home of the family – is also available on request.
The Chateau de Viresco is steeped in history and dates back to the 17th century when it first entered the possession of the family of Commarque. The Chateau de Viresco was also used as the headquarters of the Inter-allied forces of the General de Gaulle and Malraux during the Second World War. The nearest airport to the chateau is Bergerac (15km away) and the nearest town is Le Buisson de Cadouin (3km).
Markets are available each day in the local area. There is a supermarket 1km away and all other shops are less than 3km away in Le Buisson de Cadouin. The area also has a number of excellent restaurants.
Other activities include a Golf course 1 km away, canoeing 1km away, tennis 1km away, wine caves in Le Buisson de Cadouin 3km away, fishing in the river Dordogne (1km), or in a nearby lake (3km).A chef (who previously worked at Lenôtre in Paris) is 500 euros per meal for 8 to 15 persons.
Maid service 3 days per week is included in the rental price. Additional cleaning is available for 10 euros per hour.
