A short drive north of the Dordogne river, in the enchanting Lot department, La Grange en Pierre offers character, comfort and a beautiful setting near some of the region’s most idyllic villages, towns and landscapes.
This old stone barn has been sensitively converted into a fine holiday home with five spacious bedrooms and glorious grounds. The living space is on the first floor, a vast room with cosy sofas by the fireplace and TV, a handsome dining area under the wood-beams of the impressive ceiling and a sociable corner for enjoying time with loved ones, drinking wine and playing board games. A newly refurbished kitchen adds contemporary style to this typical Périgord home. 
Downstairs, five rustic bedrooms have been traditionally styled with exposed stone walls, tiled floors and pretty touches whilst the modern shower and bathroom are sure to impress. The sense of space across both floors makes it ideal for friends as well as families and extra facilities such as badminton, boules and table tennis will appeal to all ages.
Outside, relax on the terrace in the shade of the century old walnut tree and appreciate your beautiful natural surroundings. Cool off in the delightful swimming pool, surrounded by mature trees and the pretty backdrop of your traditional stone home. The terrace is beautifully lit up at night, ideal for balmy summer evenings cooking local produce on the barbecue as the stars come out in the clear country sky.
Set in an authentic rural hamlet, La Grange en Pierre is ideally located near the Lot and Dordogne border, meaning a wealth of villages and towns are easy to visit. Nearby Souillac has a wonderful weekly market on a Friday morning or head north to the pre-historic caves at Lascaux and one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’, Saint-Amand-de-Coly.
Sarlat-la-Canéda is another famous Dordogne town only 30km away with amazing restaurants and gastronomic markets whilst along the riverside you can explore archetypal villages such as Domme and La Roque-Gageac.
The Lot also has so many fascinating places to visit such as Rocamadour and even Cahors with its UNESCO World Heritage Site and magnificent vineyards. Not to mention wonderful walking and cycling trails, canoeing on the river, horse-riding, golf and even hot air balloon rides across the magnificent landscapes so near La Grange en Pierre. Located in the Lot department, very close to the border of Dordogne, La Grange en Pierre enjoys a pretty setting in an authentic farming hamlet, just a short drive north of the Dordogne river.
There’s a rustic restaurant around 4km away, a café-bar in the local village (5km) or head to Cressensac (10km), about a 15-minute drive away, for a handful of shops and a supermarket.
The well-known Souillac Golf & Country Club is just 5km away and a little further south the town of Souillac (12km) is a great place to visit for its restaurants, shops, the lovely Abbey Sainte-Marie and the atmospheric market on a Friday morning.   With the Dordogne river just a 20-minute drive away, you can hire canoes and kayaks for leisurely days pottering along the river or head out to the nearby countryside for wonderful walks following various trails across this part of the Lot and Dordogne. You will also find horse-riding, cycling, mountain biking and caving across this region.
Some of the Dordogne’s most exquisite riverside villages can be found in under and hour such as magical Domme (40km), perched high above the river and La Roque-Gageac (40km), an idyllic village backed by steep cliffs. Head north to Saint-Amand-de-Coly (30km), one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and combine with a visit to the pre-historic Lascaux caves near Montignac (40km).
Sarlat-la-Canéda (30km) is another wonderful town to explore with its medieval architecture, amazing Saturday morning market and many great restaurants specialising in local cuisine. Much further north, Périgueux (90km) is a fascinating town also steeped in great history with many gastronomic restaurants and markets.
Back to the Lot department, Rocamadour (35km) is an example of a beautifully preserved village, built on the edge of a cliff and visited by many due to its awe-inspiring beauty. Gourdon is another pretty village to explore or head an hour south to Cahors, the capital of the Lot department with its 14th century bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and world-famous vineyards in the surrounding countryside.
Closer to home, garden-lovers will appreciate the immaculate topiary gardens at Eyrignac (20km) and the Les Jardins de Marqueyssac (40km), especially wonderful on summer evenings once a week when you can explore by candlelight.
