Rental Description

Luxurious and welcoming five-bedroom country house just moments from the southern tip of Coniston Water, Coniston Farmhouse is an idyllic holiday-home for up to 10 lucky guests!
A fairy-tale landscape surrounds this magnificent 17th century traditional farmhouse, with 25 acres of private land in this secluded Lake District countryside to explore and enjoy in total tranquillity! As you approach along the long, private driveway to the house you will feel all weight lifting from your shoulders. Get ready to escape the stresses and pressures of every day life and indeed forget about them altogether as you enter into the truly quintessentially British lifestyle throughout your stay, positioned beside a traditional working farm!
The interiors are a seamless continuation of this sublime traditional exterior, oozing charm and character throughout each perfectly designed room. Your comfort is the absolute priority, with cosy sofas and woodburning stoves throughout both sitting rooms, and luxurious beds in all five bedrooms. The proper farmhouse kitchen is spacious and large, ensuring plenty of chefs can get involved in meal prep! And speaking of meal times – your large, formal dining room is the perfect hub for sparking conversation and enjoying special moments with the whole group in front of the open fire. From each room you can gaze out at the sublime countryside all around you, most impressive of which is undoubtedly the famed Coniston Old Man in the distance!
There are two king-size bedrooms, one double and one twin bedroom on the first floor, each enjoying the jaw-dropping countryside views, and a magnificent suite with a sumptuous super-king-size sleigh bed on the second-floor. The suite is complete with a dressing area and a free-standing bathtub, as well as an ensuite bathroom. A full family bathroom can be found on the first-floor, as well as a bathroom with a shower on the ground floor.
And finally, step out into your sublime garden, complete with a wonderful orchard and a patio with garden furniture perfect for enjoying a drink or even an alfresco meal in the sunshine! Set off from here in any direction and you’re sure to have your heart filled with the peaceful, natural beauty of the Lake District. With plenty of storage space for bikes, you may even want to bring along your trusty steeds and head off for a little faster paced exploration of the locality – and you certainly won’t be disappointed, whatever speed you travel at! Tucked at the southern tip of the Lake District, Coniston Farmhouse is ideally positioned near to both the delightful mountainous wonders of this incredible National Park, and its many eponymous Lakes, as well as to the vibrant coastline of Northern England and all the joys of the English seaside!
The immediate surroundings are incredibly rural and remote – perfect for a countryside retreat of tranquillity, relaxation and magnificent nature! The views from the house stretch the majestic nearby fells and across endless miles of sublime fields and forests.
The Lake District is England’s largest National Park, with more than 3100km of rights of way, you can walk, cycle and ride yourself silly through this enchanting valley as you marvel at some of the world’s best scenery! Adventure courses, boat hire, all kinds of water-sports and much more ensure you can take the Lakes at your own pace, be that racing down the mountains on a bike, fell-running up them or gliding through them on a Launch, the possibilities are endless!
Something of a mecca for cyclists, walkers and water-sports enthusiasts, the landscapes awaiting you have to be seen to be believed! Leave the car behind and lose yourself in the fresh air! For the true adventurers, unbeatable skiing, climbing and mountain-biking can be found throughout the Park, while more relaxing pursuits including boat hire and golf can be found a stone’s throw away.
Nearby attractions including the Lakes Aquarium, with the UK’s largest collection of freshwater fish, the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, where you can enjoy a 3.5-mile steam locomotive trip into the Leven Valley and the delightful World of Beatrix Potter, where the fabulous animals of Beatrix Potter’s tales are brought to life in three dimensions! All make for a great day out for all ages and can easily be combined for those short on time thanks to their proximity.
Carlisle and Leeds airports are both within a 2-hour drive or thereabouts, and there are train stations dotted throughout the National Park, so accessing the house on public transport is certainly possible. At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
