A historic holiday villa in Tuscany, Casa Gina is one of several farmhouses on a property once owned by the Machiavelli family. This home, restored to retain its original character, features beamed ceilings, sandstone stairs and unique architectural features. You’ll have access to a private garden area, a BBQ and a shared pool. Visit the farm shop, and enjoy a wine-and-cheese tasting on the estate.
The villa’s ground-floor sitting and dining area looks like a classic farmhouse but includes a TV with DVD player. The modern kitchen has a wonderful open fireplace with seating cushions. Upstairs, the three bedrooms (all doubles) are spacious and airy, and the large bathroom contains a shower and bathtub and a double sink.
The property, reached by unpaved roads, sits amid cypresses, olive groves and vineyards. You’ll love the classic Tuscan landscape in the very heart of Chianti. Visit the nearby hilltop village San Casciano in Val di Pesa, where you can buy the region’s famous wines and extra virgin olive oil. Drive to Florence (30 minutes) or Siena (1 hour) to explore Italy’s most famous artworks.
Casa Gina is 25 km from the Florence airport, near the main road from Florence to Siena. Casa Gina is a farmhouse nestled in the hills sloping down into the valley that divides the Corzano and Paterno hills south of Florence.
This group of houses, with its defense tower, has existed on this site since at least the 16th century. Its position on the crest of the hill overlooks the Pesa Valley and the historic Via Cassia which connects Florence to Siena on its progress to Rome. On the other side of the hill is the calm, verdant Valley of Three Streams (Tre Borri) that divides the Corzano hill from the Paterno hill. Tuscany, the birthplace of the Italian renaissance and renowned for its artistic legacy, is known for its expansive landscapes and hilltop towns and villages. The region is home to no less than six world heritage sites including Pisa and Siena. The regional capital is Florence, one of the world’s most romantic cities that attracts millions of tourists each year.
