Welcome to the beautiful Chateau Saint Jean. This exceptional chateau rental was constructed in 1820 by the current owner’s family and embodies everything a romantic French chateau should; elegant décor, awe inspiring towers and turrets and intricate stone masonry. It is located in a mature woodland setting with beautiful views to the east across the castles lawns, the local village and the 10 hectares of private parkland.
Chateau Saint Jean has an elegant and spacious interior and accommodates 13 guests in 7 luxurious bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. The ground floor is home to a modern kitchen, a spacious living room, the dining room and a charming salon.
Outdoors is a sizable heated swimming pool with pool house and a terrace with barbecue, perfect for al fresco dining on long summer evenings. The local village of Saint Jean is a just short, pleasant stroll from the chateau. 4 miles away is the larger town of Loches, rated one of the most magnificent medieval towns in France, which offers plenty of shops, restaurants, sights, music & theatrical events.
There is a bakery, a golf course and tennis courts within 2km of the chateau. The medieval city of Loches, voted one of the finest medieval villages in France, is 4km away. We have a local restaurant/routiers within walking distance, they serve from Mon-Fri lunch and dinner, presently 11 euros all inclusive (4 courses and wine).
The Indre River flows through the local village 1km away and is very popular for swimming (it has a small water fall). Our local restaurant serves lunch from noon and dinners from Mon-Friday.
There are many Historical Chateaux that are approximately 30 mins to 1 hr drive from the chateau. Loches is our bigger local town 4 km away. It is a historical citadel town with Chateau and Donjon to visit as well as open markets (2x weekly mornings for local produce), many restaurants, and during August they hold numerous events in the town including theatre, music and midnight markets.Catering options are possible – the caretaker is able to bring pre-prepared dishes to the chateau on request (for a small fee).
