Three-bedroomed Huckleberry Villa is set in sun-kissed Halkidiki on the Greek coastline, which means its neighbours include quiet sandy beaches and quaint Instagram-worthy villages draped in pretty bougainvillaea flowers. There are water sports and historic sites galore and plenty of beautiful walking trails that traverse the pine tree forests and mountainous peninsula. Some days, though, you might just stay put at the villa – the pool, sun deck and dining terrace can be quite persuasive.
Huckleberry Villa is comfortable and spacious and sleeps up to six – perfect for a family-friendly or small-group stay. The exterior is delightfully rustic with stone walls blending into the natural landscape, while the interior continues the traditional cottage feel with a stone-built fireplace and elegant dark wood furniture. Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors flood the rooms with beautiful natural light, while thoughtful extras like candles and flowers add the warm homely touches.
The villa boasts an open-plan living, kitchen and dining room fully-equipped with mod cons including a plasma television. Outside, the sun lounger-lined pool steals the show, but we must give honourable mentions to the balcony with a lovely table and chairs and the cushioned seating area for enjoying a mesmerising sunrise over your morning coffee or sunset over a glass of wine. Sun lovers can find their prime spot, while shade seekers can curl up with their book under cover.
With sandy Akti Elia beach within walking distance and the bustling town of Nikiti within a short drive, the villa is an ideal base for you to discover more of this majestic part of Greece. Try fresh local cuisine like fish mezes at one of the tavernas, eye up the mosaics at Zigou Monastery or head to Stagira, the birthplace of Aristotle, where kids can play with prisms, compasses and nifty interactive experiments in the science park dedicated to the great philosopher.
Huckleberry Villa is in Halkidiki, a beautiful region in northern Greece. The area is known for its jutting peninsulas, featuring pine tree-lined forests that give way to sandy beaches in sheltered bays. It’s a fantastic base to explore historic ruins from or engage in the many local activities like scuba diving, snorkelling or walking and cycling the beautiful tracks that traverse the coastline and forests.
Much of your time might be spent relaxing on the golden sandy beaches or splashing about in the Aegean Sea. In Halkidiki, there are one hundred beaches in total, including fifty Blue Flag beaches that are safe for children, with calm waters. Many spots offer water sports like snorkelling, sea kayaking and scuba diving sessions to explore the reefs, blue lagoons and more secret unspoilt coastline. You can also hire a small self-rowed boat or a skipper-tended yacht to glide along the coast past Mount Athos or sail to beach-blessed Vourvourou and Ammouliani islands.
For outdoor adventuring by land, there’s a myriad of walking, hiking and mountain biking routes. You can head to Mount Itamos, the highest peak on Sithonia for panoramic views over the peninsula and a fantastic bird’s eye view of Mount Athos to the east and Mount Olympus in the west. Biking trips can also take in the Xerxes Canal, surrounding peaks and the beach at Komitsa.  
If hiking sounds a bit too much like hard work, Ouranoupolis village – a short drive from the villa – has Byzantine monuments and pretty beaches. Neos Marmaras, Agios Nikolaos or any other village in the area boast beautiful architecture and friendly atmospheres that are sure to delight. Among the most exciting places to visit is Parthenonas. It’s on the slopes of Mount Itamos and features stone houses, taverns, a museum and sea views which are exceptionally stunning at sunset.
