Villa Honeycomb Greece
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Honeycomb is a charming Grecian idyll for eight nestled among fragrant pine trees and olive groves, set just moments from the sparkling eastern coast of the Sithonia Peninsula. Blending the best of sleek new-build finesse and contemporary fittings, this home has a traditional design using local carved stone, framed with a sloped terracotta roof and impeccable gardens with private pool. Indoor and outdoor living fuse seamlessly, thanks to a tranquil veranda overlooking green lawns, reaching to spectacular views of the Aegean Sea.
Simple and serene, the garden offers lawn space for picnics and games as a family or group, a well-proportioned pool set in a chic terrace with al fresco dining furniture, a pergola and hammock for those indulgent afternoons. Setting the scene for balmy evenings enjoying barbecue meals and local flavours, this tranquil haven offers a retreat from the bustle of modern life, surrounded by luscious woodland and unadulterated peace.
Settling into the local pace of life, lazy afternoons by the pool, reclining on the sun-dappled terrace or taking gentle hikes in the neighbouring pine forest to the local (virtually private) beach will offer a restorative holiday.
The flawless interiors at Villa Honeycomb are both strikingly simple yet elegantly finished; the natural beauty of the raw materials speak for themselves, with exposed local carved stone throughout. Airy, understated and crisp, the open-plan living space features a pristine white-gloss kitchen with Italian lacquer has top-grade integrated appliances; its sleek contemporary style contrasting with the natural timber dining table and beautiful stone. Low-key, yet elegant, splashes of modern art lend accents of vivid colour, while the soft-lit sitting area is warmly inviting, with a wood-burning stove for a cosy touch. Classic rocking chairs add a note of modern Scandi appeal.
Two bedrooms with king-sized beds and two bedrooms with twin beds, each with an en-suite, offer the last word in minimalist chic. These sedate spaces are executed with a restorative stay in mind; attention to detail is impeccable throughout with all the hallmarks of the quality present: from premium cotton, linens and soft fluffy towels, luxury toiletries and ambient lighting. Muted and neutral tones enable the quality of stone flooring and internal structure to speak to itself, while natural timber side tables and dressing tables create a sense of indoor-outdoor harmony.
With Wi-Fi, a 50” Smart television, air-conditioning and rain-water power showers, every contemporary comfort is in place.
Villa Honeycomb is the ultimately inviting home-from-home, like a fairytale cottage in a wood, it is tucked in a tranquil corner of this beautiful region, finished with a designer’s touch, faithful throughout to the natural surroundings and local style.
Sithonia, also known as Longos, is a peninsula of Chalkidiki which is known for its beautiful coastline dotted with Blue Flag beaches. The Kassandra Peninsula lies to the west of Sithonia and the Mount Athos peninsula to the east, meaning both coasts of the peninsula can be enjoyed when visiting the region. Like a slice of Greek life from the ’70s, Sithonia is a sleepy backwater, offering a taste of authentic rural Greek life, away from the bustle of the crowds.
With almost 100 beaches to choose from, this region of Northern Greece is the birthplace of philosopher Aristotle and has plenty of impressive ruins to visit, monasteries and UNESCO listed sites. With both mountainous terrain, dense pine forests and of course an array of remote beaches, hiking, biking and water sports are all ideal ways to enjoy the region.
Mount Itamos is the highest peak on Sithonia and rewards walkers with panoramic views for those who are keen to hike to the summit.
The closest village, Agios Nikolaos, offers a taste of authentic local culture within a traditional mountain village environment. The winding and cobbled streets allow visitors to absorb the artful local heritage, while the old town square is lined with tavernas, where guests can enjoy a swig of the famous local “Tsipouro”.
Water sports such as sea kayaking and scuba diving are available on many of the beaches, offering colourful corals, blue lagoons and rocky hidden coastal caves to discover, while the chances of spending the day on a “private” beach are relatively high.
Rowing boat trips or guided boat excursions are a fabulous way to enjoy the region, finishing up at sunset just in time for a sumptuous grilled seafood dinner. Gliding along the coast past Mount Athos or to Vourvourou with its seemingly endless beaches and the Ammouliani islands make for a wonderful day trip.
Parthenonas is an ancient villagе neаr Neοs Marmarаs whiсh was abаndonеd by its residents. Today it is a haven of οld houses, a mix of ruined, restored and boutique hotels, while Portо Kοufo is thе largest naturаl harbоur in Greесe.
With so much to see and do in this region, it’s attraction lies in its uncommercial charm and rural authenticity, along with its intriguing mountain villages and ancient architecture.
