Luxury three-bedroomed Assos Seaside – is just as the name suggests – a beautiful sea-front villa that’s just a stone’s throw (or short flip-flopped stroll down your private steps) from the alluring Ionian Sea.
The Kefalonia-based villa also taps into the Mediterranean blues of the sky and the waters below with its private outdoor swimming pool and pops of colour in the soft pool towels and furnishings. Set in the peaceful tree-lined hillside, it’s Kefalonia at its most relaxing.
Inside, the Ionian architecture is designed with modernity and comfort in mind, making it picture worthy in it is own right. On the ground floor, there’s a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you’d need for effortless dining at home. Think oven, microwave, dishwasher and more.
From there, a couple of steps lead down to the open-plan sitting area and dining room. There you can sink into the sofa, enjoy your meals on the charming wooden table or plan tomorrow’s exciting adventure. Large windows and doors throughout the property create that extra feeling of light and space.
Where the bedrooms are concerned, style and luxury are also not forsaken for comfort. The first leads to the first master double bedroom where you can rejoice in superb sea view on the large balcony, while a twin bedroom with a separate master bathroom awaits for you on the second floor.
With a spacious attic room that has a second master double bedroom too, this villa is ideal for couples, friends or families alike. There’s plenty of wardrobe space and thoughtful homely touches like mirrors and dressing tables. Plus, Wi-Fi is included, so you keep your friends or family updated.
Outside, Assos Seaside has an alfresco dining table, barbeque and plenty of seating options. So, when you’re not dipping your toes into the cooling water, the layout on your cushioned sun lounger or enjoy some reprieve from the warm sun on a chair under the shaded gazebo. It shot to fame as a setting of Louis de Bernieres’ wartime novel – and later film – Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Years later, it still feels like an undiscovered secret with its serene natural setting, historic sites and a relaxed atmosphere.
Kefalonia is also renowned for its soft sandy beaches, mountain gorges and quaint harbour villages. Spend your days swimming in the crystal-clear waters, exploring the Venetian-style architecture or trying fresh local cuisine like seafood, mezes or moussaka.
The villa itself offers the perfect starting point for exploring more of this beautiful Ionian island. It’s only a short drive from must-see sights like the 15th-century Assos castle in Assos village and Myrtos bay with its picture-worthy beach that’s framed by tall cliffs – both seen from your terrace.
In Assos village, there are also verdant forests with pine and cypress trees to explore. The town is small and still retains its old-world charm with classic Ionian architecture and pretty pastel-coloured houses nestled into the steep hillside.
At the harbour, you can while away the afternoon watching fishing boats and luxury yachts mooring, while in the village square there are tavernas, shops and restaurants to dine at or do as the locals do and sip cold coffee.
Assos beach is also a must visit, with its clear waters and fantastic views across the bay. You can relax on the pebbles or swim and snorkel in the sea. From the villa, Assos village can be reached by car. The coastal route to get there is spectacular and takes in the dramatic rock formations and tranquil sea waters.  
In Kefalonia, you’ll also find many intriguing caves to discover. There’s the magical underground lake of Melissanthi or Drogarati with its exquisite natural formations. You could also hop on a boat and head to the untouched coves, inlets and secluded beaches. Some tours stop off for lunch and swimming.
Or, for a dose of culture instead, head to Saint Gerasimos monastery.
