Stresa, the most popular town on Lake Maggiore is less than a 20-minute drive away, luring holiday-goers with its regular boat trips to the stunning Borromeo Islands – a group of three small islands and two islets where nature meets art. Those who are not scared of heights and want to explore something unique can head to the Lake Maggiore Funicular – a bucket list ride in a cable car that will take you all the way to the top of Mount Sasso del Ferro from where you can soak up cinematic views over the majestic Alps and their snow-capped peaks.
