Villa Delonix Jamaica
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Delonix is a quintessential plantation style home perched stylishly on the majestic northern coast of Jamaica, its colonial roots evident in the styling, set on a former banana and coconut plantation.
Montego Bay glitters at night across the water, whilst at every turn guests can absorb the changing colours of the Caribbean Sea. Villa Delonix offers a dazzling blend of colonial grace along with Caribbean verve – like stepping into the pages of a glossy interiors magazine, this home doesn’t miss a trick when it comes to state-of-the-art fittings, whilst offering a magically romantic undertone.
The formal, symmetry of a plantation home offers a British Georgian feel, with the Art Deco decorative balcony balustrades, long porches and covered verandas, these are graceful homes, and Villa Delonix, with its jalousie shutters and airy, creamy proportions is an inviting vision, framed by swaying palms, tropically vivacious gardens and the sounds of the sea offers a little slice of magic. Five acres of lush parkland, cooling with the trade winds and fragrant with fruit trees lead down to the coast – formerly the spot where bananas were loaded onto ships.
Ten guests can be accommodated across five bedrooms and five bathrooms, within the charmingly elegant aesthetic, the bedrooms offer a sedate glamour, polished mahogany beds, genteel writing desks, quality cotton and wonderful views. Each of the bedrooms has its own unique quids of colour and design, whether it be upbeat florals or dazzling aquas – whilst the living spaces have an understated elegance.
Oriental rugs, unique hand-laid tiles and custom cedar furnishing adds abundant character to this stately home, whilst there is a natural interplay between indoor and outdoor living. The chic, covered verandah is furnished with large bamboo sofas and chairs covered in white canvas.
A glistening pool is impeccably executed with a generous pool-side terrace, adorned with elegant parasols and indulgent loungers, and in true colonial style, guests at Villa Delanix are pampered by impeccable staff. Whether it be a lavish post swim breakfast with the fragrance of almond trees in the air, or evening pool parties, rocking tunes from the sound system and the rum cocktails flowing in the breeze of the trade winds, this home has it covered!
Villa Delonix is a magical home, offering pristine accommodation within stately colonial grace, artfully arranged and thoughtfully presented, a true home-from-home, with a serene luxury interwoven to its design and every comfort imaginable whilst retaining that archetypal Caribbean upbeat feel.Villa Delonix is perched on the coast just outside Montego Bay, on Jamaica’s north coast. The north of this lush Caribbean island is known for its glitzy developments, crystalline waters and coral reef rich coast, whilst away from the tourist hotspots, there lies a fascinating, colourful culture with music built into its rhythms (birthplace of reggae) and craggy remote mountains through to tropical waterfalls and banana groves.
Montego Bay is an energetic hub of buzzing nightlife, downtown market life, duty-free shopping and parties galore; ‘Mo’ Bay’ (as it is known locally) is Jamaica’s second largest town after Kingston (Bob Marley’s birthplace). When it comes to beaches, there is everything from the celebrity dotted Doctor’s Cave Beach, which has an 100-year-old bathing club, through to less showy Cornwall Beach, known for its tasty fried fish.
Locally known “Hip Strip,” (Gloucester Avenue), runs parallel to the oceanfront, offering a colourful and vivid three kilometre stretch of bars, boutiques, street vendors and restaurants, whilst in contrast, Downtown is worth a visit, from the cobblestone Sam Sharpe Square, to patty shops, artisans and music vendors through to historical sites like the Gully Market, or local eateries offering an eclectic creole blend of African spices, jerk and plantain, or a shot of rum depending on the mood!
Holden’s Reef (100m off-shore) is part of the barrier reef complex that covers much of Jamaica’s north coast. Taking a kayak out to the live reef will offer a tropical treat of colourful fish and coral, with snorkelling in shallow water or deeper waters for scuba diving.
The north coast of Jamaica consists of the diverse parishes of St Mary, St Ann and Trelawny, the gateway to spectacular scenery once visitors venture a little from the resort complexes; sweeping cane and coconut plantations, rolling farmlands, mangrove swamps and craggy terrain ideal for hiking, or for a journey to a reggae Mecca, to Bob Marley’s birthplace where local Rasta guides will proudly offer tours.
Whether it be deserted coastline or hikes inland to hidden waterfalls, magical coral reef journeys, or bubbling local culture intermixed with shiny tourist hubs, live music or water sports, the north coast of Jamaica has it all.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
