In the centre of Bophut Beach, the colourful Fisherman’s Village is an atmospheric myriad of narrow roads brimming with rustic wooden Chinese shop-houses. The Friday Bophut Walking Street night market is one of the island’s most famous Walking Street night markets and is the perfect place to buy clothes and trinkets to take home.
A popular excursion is to visit Koh Phangan, Thailand’s fifth largest island. It is totally unspoilt with idyllic, long white-sanded beaches and a hilly, lush, tropical jungle interior. The dive sites are renowned. The island is known for its raucous half-moon and full-moon parties but is relaxed and chilled the rest of the time.
The Magic Garden or Secret Budda Garden is hidden away atop the Tar Nim Waterfall peak. It boasts an impressive collection of statues, each of which has a story to tell.
