Set in a preserved area of the Sintra Natural Park, guests staying at Casa Nafarros enjoy a wonderful holiday combination of nature, fairytale palaces, brilliant beaches and visiting fabulous towns and cities. The villa’s privileged location between Sintra, 9 km away, and Cascais, 25 km away, and its proximity to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, makes this a wonderful spot to discover Portuguese culture and spend time between the magical Sintra hills and the sea. The nearest beach, the sensational Praia das Macas, is only 4km from the villa. The coast is famous for both family friendly beaches and thrilling, wild ones such as Guincho with plenty of watersport activities. Cascais boasts a lovely marina, much entertainment, shopping, beaches, restaurants, coffee shops and delightful waterfront terraces. Estoril, with the largest casino in Europe, is only 27 km away and the capital Lisbon with its cosmopolitan ambience, monuments, trams, museums, restaurants and markets in only 40 minutes away. If you don’t want to drive everywhere, there is a bus stop 1 km from the villa where you can take a bus to Sintra and Cascais. Golfers enjoy many courses in the area including the fabulous Quinta da Marinha which is set amongst fragrant pines and stretches down to Guincho Beach.
Casa Nafarros is a delightful traditional villa which offers five bedrooms, spacious entertainment spaces and lovely outdoor space. Though traditional in styling and furnishings, the villa has the benefit of recently fitted, modern bathrooms. The villa is built over two floors with the ground floor being home to an open plan living and dining room, a spacious kitchen, four bedrooms of which two enjoy ensuite facilities, a family bathroom and a further toilet. The living and dining room offers a collection of comfy sofas and chairs, a dining table and chairs, a feature fireplace and double doors which open to the terrace. The very generously sized kitchen offers modern cabinetry, a double sink and a useful breakfast table.
One of the downstairs bedrooms is a children’s room with trundle beds where one slides out from the other and an ensuite shower room. The shower room does not have a sink but is home to the villa’s washing machine. There are two double bedrooms plus another double with an ensuite shower room. The family bathroom boasts a shower and two washbasins. The master bedroom suite is located on the first floor. It enjoys a kingsize bed, a double sofa bed that could be used for two children and a smart ensuite bathroom with a bath and separate shower. The master bedroom also enjoys access to a private balcony with gorgeous views. At the top of the stairs there is an open space which is used as a reading area.
Casa Nafarros is set in a lovely plot with fabulous views of the Sintra mountains. It boasts a 10m x 4m swimming pool which is surrounded by sun loungers and parasols, a shaded alfresco dining area with a portable barbecue and planting all around to ensure your privacy. There is parking at the front of the villa for three cars. The villa is only 200 metres from a grocery shop, butcher and a van that comes twice a week with fresh fish from the Atlantic coast, all wonderful for a delicious alfresco supper!Casa Nafarros is set in a wonderful plot with delightful views of the Sintra mountains. Sintra and its Natural Park is an extremely prestigious location brimming with lush pine forests, extravagant fairytale palaces, lavish, opulent mansions and the ruins of an ancient castle. Sintra is brimming with fascinating, historic buildings and charming, narrow lanes filled with quaint restaurants and cafes. Sintra’s Pena Palace is one of the finest tourist attractions in Portugal and exemplifies the 19th century Romanticism style of architecture. There is an alluring mix of vivid painted terraces, mythological statues and decorative battlements, all in the lush Parque de Pena forest. The palace is always very busy so you may want to pre-book tickets.
The beaches of the Lisbon Coast are spectacular with huge expanses of sand. Between Guincho to Praia das Macas there are some beautiful, wild conditions with the beaches becoming more sheltered towards Estoril. Praia da Adraga Beach offers stunning scenery of dramatic cliffs, jagged rocks and golden sand. The famous Praia do Guincho combines intense surfing with dramatic, natural scenery. Guincho is situated on the western edge of the Serra da Sintra National Park, protecting the fabulous beach from tourist development..
Cascais enjoys an interesting history. In the past, Cascais was the summer retreat of the Portuguese nobility. Today it is an elegant fusion of its fabulous heritage and modern tourism. Within the narrow, cobbled streets of the historic centre are museums, an imposing fort, lavish villas, charming shops, cute waterside cafes and restaurants. The marina is very attractive. A short train ride can take you into the centre of Lisbon or to one of the lovely beaches along the coast. The promenade is also very lovely for a stroll.
Golf fans will be delighted with the location of Casa Nafarros. Quinta da Marinha is set amongst beautiful pine trees and stretches down to the mighty Guincho Beach. It enjoys magical scenery with its hole number 13 descending to the sea. Definitely an Instagram worthy picture postcard of Portugese golf! Quinta da Marinha Golf Resort also offers 10 tennis courts, 3 padel courts, 3 squash courts, a sauna, gym, indoor swimming pool, restaurants and the fantastic Marinha Equestrian Centre. Oitavos Dunes Golf is also fabulous. Penha Longa enjoys stunning panoramic views over the Sintra mountain range as does Quinta da Beloura.
