Guests staying at Villa Amadora can easily combine their holiday in the countryside with trips to the capital city and the stunning beaches south of Lisbon on the Costa da Caparica.

The mesmerising interior of the villa showcases spectacular domed, cathedral style ceilings and intricate, traditional decor. You will find sensationally detailed tiling, beautifully carved furnishings, grandiose soft furnishings and an unmatched marble floor from an 18th-century monastery. The walls are decorated with lavish works of art and numerous stag heads. The stately main living areas go beyond their magnitude with superb styling fit for royalty. There are grand fireplaces in the living and dining rooms and enormous windows that flood the spaces with light and offer spectacular estate views. The villa is equipped with radiant floor heating as well as central heating.
The enormous, comfortable living room offers not only an exceptional atmosphere but a 75-inch television, an office desk, a gaming table area, exquisite rugs, comfy sofas and an impressive plate collection on display. There is a second seating area at the far end of the room with bright and colourful sofas and further fascinating collections decorating the walls. The dining room is a true wonder in its regal fashion and stunning windows and ceiling. The vast, ancient table seats 22 guests and makes you feel exceptional. This is the perfect villa if you have a special birthday or celebration. In addition, the ground floor is home to a delightful breakfast room, a fabulous kitchen, another sitting room with a television, a laundry room, a bathroom and four bedrooms! We did say it was enormous, and this is just the ground floor! Even the halls are seriously impressive with fabulous artworks, fireplaces and an amazing domed ceiling. The kitchen is fully tiled in a traditional Portuguese way and offers warm wooden cabinetry, oversized appliances and another smaller breakfast table. It makes you feel as though you have gone back in time. The exquisitely decorated and finished ground floor bedrooms comprise two twin bedrooms and two suites, both with twin beds and ensuite bathrooms with showers. Guests are in awe of the detailing of the bedrooms where heavy draped curtains match the bed eiderdowns, and the walls are lined with ancient artworks. Again, the ceilings are beautiful.
A stately staircase leads you up to the upper floor with its impressive hallway. Here you will find the master suite and another three-bedroom suite. The master suite boasts a kingsize bed, a gorgeous fireplace, a television, a closet room and a spectacular ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and a bath. The tiling in all of the bathrooms is magnificent with incredible detail. You will laze in the bath, captivated by the scenes on the tiles! The second suite offers twin beds, a cot, a beautiful fireplace, a television and an ensuite bathroom with a bath. The third suite enjoys a double bed and ensuite bathroom with a bath. The final suite is another twin, and its ensuite bathroom offers a bath. All of these exquisitely decorated bedrooms offer access to the terrace, where you will enjoy the beautiful garden views.
The estate is equally impressive with beautiful terraces enjoying alfresco dining under shade, a large 13m x 7m swimming pool, outdoor lounge areas, a bar, an illuminated synthetic grass tennis court with a spectator viewing area, a hunting skeet official course with two automated plate throwing towers, a large artificial duck lake, a large rare birdcage and acres of lush lawns and mature trees. The town is close to Santo Estevao and only 60km from the vibrant city of Lisbon. Visitors enjoy many attractions on the river as well as wine tastings in this fertile region.
Salvaterra de Magos is the area close to the river. It offers a good selection of entertainment. Falcoaria Real is a very popular museum where you will enjoy falcons flying free and learn about the history of these fantastic birds. You will be very close to them.
A lovely day out is a trip on the Tagus River, otherwise known as the Tejo. The nature tour of Rio-a-Dentro will introduce you to the river full of life and full of natural habitats for the myriad of fish and bird species. The river flows through the Ribatejo plains on its way to Lisbon, passing by small beaches and islands. Praia Doce is one of the river beaches. It is very popular for swimming and watersports, including paddleboarding. You can also hire canoes to enjoy the river. Promartur – Cruzeiros no Tejo is another company offering wonderful boat trips to discover the fauna and flora of the Tagus River. You will see fishermen’s boats, stilts house, the Museum of the Avieros and the islands of birds. The landscapes are beautiful.
If you want to enjoy a day on the real beach rather than a river beach, Praia de Albarquel is 64km away, Praia de Galapinhos 71km and Portinho da Arrabida 74km. The gorgeous town of Sebutal is 60km away, the same distance as Lisbon.
Lisbon effortlessly blends rich traditional heritage with striking modernism. It boasts a buzzing nightlife and is blessed with a glorious year-round climate. The Time Out Market is popular for a food and drink stop, and the beautiful Mercado da Ribeira building enjoys pop-up restaurants. The districts of Baixa, Chiado, Bairro Alto, Alfama and Avenida da Liberdale are all close to the main sights and attractions. The Belem district is a must-see with its famous Pasteis de Belem pastry shop, the 16th century Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Belem Palace and the tropical botanical gardens. The Berado Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Belem Cultural Centre is also worth a visit. You can take a short train ride to visit Cascais or other beach resorts.
