Part of a quiet community within the grounds of Aroeira Golf Resort and close to a tranquil pine forest is Villa Olavo, a modern and spacious holiday home. As well as enjoying a leafy setting, the villa also has its garden in which to relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
Villa Olavo’s interior reflects its naturally beautiful surroundings, with rooms full of beautiful wood furnishings and a warm, earthy feel to the décor. The numerous glass sliding doors let in plenty of light and offer direct access to the outside space, working to unite indoor and outdoor areas.
The accommodation is set over one level, with a converted attic as an additional feature. On the ground floor is a large, open-plan living/dining room. Settle down on a comfortable sofa in front of the television or fireplace and enjoy relaxed evenings with the family. It’s also a great place to sit and take in the views of the garden.
Behind the lounge area is a dining table with seating for up to eight people. There’s also a beautiful piano, giving any talented players the chance to entertain with a little pre-dinner music! Several doors open directly into the outside space. The kitchen is equipped with every convenient amenity you could need, as well as a few little extras, such as a coffee machine and a juice extractor.
There are three bedrooms on this floor, all benefiting from air conditioning and direct access outside via sliding doors. There are two bedrooms with a double bed each, with one also having an ensuite bathroom with shower.
The third bedroom features one double bed and one single bed, making it ideal for families with young children. The main bathroom is spacious and light. Upstairs is the converted attic, which is home to space with two single beds and a toilet.
Outside is a large terrace with a partially-covered dining area. Cook up some delicious local fish or seafood on the barbecue and enjoy al fresco meals in your peaceful garden. The large, private swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers, with hedges providing total privacy. At the other end of the garden is a lawned area with a children’s playhouse and seating. As it’s located within the grounds of Aroeira Golf Resort, Villa Olavo benefits from the use of its fantastic facilities. These include two 18-hole golf courses, four tennis courts, a spa, a communal tropical swimming pool, a shopping centre and restaurants.
You don’t have to travel far from Villa Olavo to reach a sandy beach, with Praia da Fonte da Telha just a 10-minute drive away. The main draws of this beach are the fine sand and calm waters, which are suited for both swimming and snorkelling safely.
The sand also slopes gently into the sea, so even the little ones can enjoy a dip. When the water gets a little livelier, it’s also great for doing some surfing. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from for lunch, with beach bars on offer too.
A 40-minute drive south will bring you to Sesimbra, a coastal town with a long history and a beautiful beach. The historical highlight is 13th-century Sesimbra Castle, which was built on the site of a Moorish castle on a hill high above the town.
You can access the stunning Serra da Arrábida Natural Park from Sesimbra too. Explore the park’s beauty by hiking or biking through the dramatic scenery as you marvel at the breathtaking views over the sea.
The port city of Setúbal is also just 40 minutes away by car. Enjoy the lively atmosphere down at the waterfront and watch as boats come and go. The old town area is full of cobbled streets and picturesque squares to stroll around.
