Villa Levada sits in the idyllic location of right on the vivid green hills below Prazeres. The homes mint green exterior makes it stand out against the glorious natural scenery and it benefits from being in a tranquilly quiet area. Upon arriving at Villa Levada you will be greeted by management who will be more than happy to show you around your holiday home.
The home possesses a modern and open plan living and dining area decorated in calming minimal colours and wall art which adds an artistic flair. The room contains a full-fledged home entertainment system including a flat-screen cable television, a DVD player and a PlayStation. Guests will love spending cosy evenings in with family here. The casual dining room has a dining table for up to ten people and the contemporary kitchen comes equipped with all of the necessary appliances.
On this floor, one of the double bedrooms has doors leading out onto the solarium and a fantastic view over the sea. Upstairs, two of the double bedrooms contain charming French doors that lead out onto the front facing balcony.
The beautiful views can be better enjoyed poolside on the solarium. Outside, guests can indulge in soaking in the sun on one of the sun loungers or various seating areas. There is also a quaint dining area in the garden where al-fresco breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be devoured while admiring the many delightful houses in the distance.Olhar do Campo is a rustic local bar just a short drive away from Villa Levada. The bar boasts an inviting atmosphere with a traditional menu and is regularly frequented by locals for its wonderful food. Home-cooked meals are beautifully complemented by gorgeous local Madeira wine.
The menu contains a great range of dishes including fish cakes, chicken piri-piri and home-made desserts. Visitors have the option of dining outdoors on one of the tables amongst the calming surrounding nature and blissful sounds of the sea. Another wonderful choice for dining is Casa Grelhados which is also reachable via a short drive. The restaurant is fantastic for sampling authentic Madeira cuisine in generous portions.
Prazeres is now becoming more popular with visitors, due to its gorgeous countryside, which rests about 400 metres above sea-level. Whilst in Prazeres, you will discover a small collection of country restaurants & cafés, the Levada Nova trail and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra. Access to the rest of the island, Calheta beach and on to Funchal is very easy via the new expressway.
The resort town of Calheta is located a 15-minute drive away from the villa. The town is known for its sugar cane production and holds The Calheta Milling Company which is one of the oldest sugar cane factories on the island. The factory is still in operation so makes for a brilliant tour where you can see sugar transformed into rum – you’ll even be able to sample some.
The factory was founded at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century so contains years of fascinating history. There will also be the opportunity to try delicious Madeira cake and Poncha, the island’s traditional alcohol beverage.
