Close to the cosmopolitan town of Mykonos, yet peacefully perched above the idyllic Greek shoreline, is luxurious five-bedroom Villa Royal Blue with a private pool and part of a super-swish complex. You’ll be treated to modern, spacious interiors and panoramic sea views. You also have access to the resort’s facilities, including a private dock, sea access and lush garden surroundings.
The villa is traditionally Mediterranean in style with whitewashed walls, rustic stone features and painted blue shutters. The contemporary interiors are splashed with the bohemian spirit of wooden furniture, wicker baskets and intricate art pieces. There’s an elegant beam-ceilinged sitting room with comfortable sofa and flat-screen TV, which adjoins to the similarly stylish dining room.
Villa Royal Blue sleeps 11, and there are five bedrooms and four bathrooms on-site. All are white for a bright and light feel, and the master has a beautiful beamed ceiling and a neat en-suite bathroom. Extra ‘luxe’ additions include Wi-Fi and air conditioning, and toiletries and towels are provided. Did we mention, there’s dedicated daily cleaning staff and 24/7 security for a carefree stay too.
Out in the garden, you’ll find plenty of places to sit and relax in the sun or the shade. The cliff-edge pool is the prime spot to take in that view in all its glory (which is especially spectacular at sunset), and there are cushioned sun loungers on the paved terrace if you’ve had your last dip of the day. In Mykonos Town itself, you can spend your afternoons browsing the one-of-a-kind shops for souvenirs or immerse yourself in the island’s vibrant history and visit one of the chapels, churches or museums. Tourliani Monastery, just off the main square, is a popular choice, alongside the Archaeological Museum with its ancient relics.
Near to Mykonos Town, and 3.5km from the villa, are the Mykonos Windmills. This group of 16th-century buildings are picture-worthy with their white magnificence and idyllic spot looking out towards the sea. You could also visit Little Venice – a collection of picturesque 18th-century homes on the shoreline. There you can grab a bite to eat at one of the cafés or restaurants.For days spent on the beach, there are 25 beaches for you to choose from. Psarou Beach is 400 metres away from the villa with calm waters for swimming. There’s also Elia – a favourite beach with families because of its sheltered shore and access to facilities – or Platys Gialos and Kalafatis Beaches which are renowned for water sports such as sea kayaking.
For day trips, boat tours are popular. You can head to the neighbouring islands of Delos – with a UNESCO archaeological site – and Rhenia with pristine coves and snorkelling spots. Mykonos also attracts scuba divers of any level, and there are caverns, reefs or shipwrecks to explore.
