Casa Vicinale Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
In the southern heart of Puglia’s heel, this lovely eight-bedroom home is just a short drive from a fascinating historical village. Within minutes you can be wandering around its quaint lanes, discovering its stunning churches and palaces.
Made up of four adjacent buildings, this home is ideal for large groups or perhaps an extended family who want the space to spread out. This spacious feeling is helped by the well-placed furnishings and airy windows which light up each room.
Casa Vicinale’s fresh style is complimented by cosy furniture, making it feel like a home away from home. The fully-equipped kitchen is open plan and connects to a stunning dining/living room with a comfortable sofa, allowing you to cook up a lovely meal without feeling left out from all the fun!
The outdoor spaces at this wonderful home are divine; the dining areas, fenced in garden and patio are places where great memories will be made – not to mention the glistening pool that’s surrounded by comfortable deck chairs! Picture yourself indulging in a glass of wine poolside or enjoying breakfast al fresco in the sunshine after a refreshing swim – there’s no better way to start a morning!
Lovers of history will appreciate walking around the local small town just a short drive away. Once a vital Messapic centre, this fascinating place has several churches and palaces for you to admire. Archaeological remnants from thousands of years ago are found in all over the town, so be sure to take your time walking around viewing the different sites.
There are charming restaurants to be found in either of the two historic towns within a five-minute drive as well as lovely shops and pretty cafes. Travel slightly further afield to the nearest beach and spend the day swimming in its clear blue waters.
In the southern part of Italy’s heel, the Salento region, Casa Vicinale is in a great position conveniently close to the main road which heads east towards the coast around Otranto or connects to the main road heading north to Lecce or south to the very end of the peninsula.
You’re just a five-minute drive from a small town (4 km) which was once an important Messapic centre. Take a walk around the surrounding area where you can find archaeological remnants in unexpected places. Be sure to take a look at the different churches and palaces that prove this town has significant historical importance. There’s another historic town (5km) also within a five-minute drive where you can admire the stunning baroque architecture and charming shops selling delicious local produce. Both towns have a great choice of restaurants for guests to enjoy.
It’s just under twenty minutes to the glorious coastline on the east coast with some beautiful stretches of beach around Otranto with sandy shores, rocky coves and crystal clear waters to be discovered. Many have sun umbrellas, sun beds and sometimes pedaloes to hire for a relaxing day out for all the family.
Beach-lovers should also take a day trip to Marina di Pescoluse (42km) on the south coast, a beach that looks like it’s come right from a movie. Its turquoise water and white sands earned its nickname the ‘Maldives of Italy’ and has made it a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Spot colourful fish while snorkelling in the sea or rent a sunbed from a local and relax by the shore. There are many beachside cafes where you can treat yourself to an espresso or freshly pressed fruit juice – whatever takes your fancy.
Lecce (34km) is an exciting city that’s only a half hour drive away from the villa and its not one to be missed. Dotted with trendy high-street stores and proper Italian market stalls, there is plenty of places you can treat yourself or spend time browsing. In the center of the city lays Centro Storico, a historical amphitheatre that dates back to Roman times. Visitors are truly fascinated how something so ancient can sit between such new, modern day buildings. It really is a wonderful site to see! The region is also known for its production of Italy’s everyday favourite – olive oil!
Thanks to this, you can find centuries-old farmland and beautiful olive groves that stretch out as far as the eye can see.
