Rental Description

Melrose Mansion is situated in its own three acres of grounds, with a westerly aspect, located in the rolling Scottish Borders countryside near Melrose. The house dates back to Georgian times with an impressive palladium frontage which gives it a grand air, yet within still feels like a family home.
Located in the Scottish Borders countryside, fifteen minutes from Melrose and within an hour from Edinburgh. The village of St Boswells has a general store and hotel, whilst Melrose has a great choice of pubs, hotels, shops and restaurants. The Borders region is known as the short break destination of Scotland, with plenty of choice of activities in the area, including walking the Eildon hills, mountain biking in the woodland trails, clay-pigeon shooting locally, fishing on the Tweed or playing a round of golf in Melrose.
The impressive pitch pine staircase in the grand entrance carries a traditional country house ambience throughout the property. The two front rooms are the main reception rooms, with the drawing room and the larger dining room. The drawing room is a large light airy room with large bay window facing south, with fine upholstered chesterfield sofas in front of an open fire. The décor is grand with floral wallpaper, carved wooden mantelpiece and gilt over-mantle mirror. Additionally, there is a secondary sitting room beside this room, which is less formal. This is a cosier room with a large TV, which is ideal for children or catching up with the news on the TV.  The dining room has a grand piano at one side and the table can seat up to twenty-four comfortably, which gives you an idea of the size of this room. It is semi-panelled, with traditional wall paper and a wooden floor, and is classical in style suitable for a country house. All the accommodation is situated on the first and second floors and sleeps up to thirty guests, a maximum of twenty-six adults and five additional children, across twelve bedrooms, with five bathrooms.
With a well-kept enclosed garden and grounds, with plenty of parking, it really has a feel of being in the country and guests will enjoy a completely tranquil stay. Melrose Mansion is ideal for a family holiday, an event or occasion including a wedding, or for those wishing to base themselves in a secluded setting.Melrose Mansion holds a fantastic location within the easily accessible Scottish Borders, the town of Melrose is less than fifteen minutes away, here a wide variety of helpful amenities can be found including shops and restaurants.
The Scottish Borders are rich in historic towns, castles and houses to visit, and this rural setting is packed with opportunities for activities such as cycling, walking, golf, shooting and fishing. Melrose is home to the 14th century Melrose Abbey which is well worth a visit! Also within a 15-minute drive is Abbotsford, the home of historic novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, which makes for a fascinating day out. The 12th century Jedburgh Abbey is just 20-minutes away. Further afield, Edinburgh is easily reachable for a day out at just over an hour away. Just over the border and easily reachable from Melrose Mansion is beautiful Northumberland, Bamburgh and the beautiful coastline is just over an hour away Northumberland National Park stretches from the Scottish border in the north to just south of Hadrian’s Wall, and it is one of the least populated and least visited of the National Parks and makes for an idyllic day out.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
