You can entertain guests on the poolside deck with dining area, or simply relax on one of the sun loungers provided. At 14m x 4m, the pool is well proportioned – and you can make use of an even larger one at the resort, again complete with loungers and day beds on an extensive sun terrace.
There is much to enjoy inside, with plenty of entertainment options – these include a pre-loaded iPod and 8-speaker Bose surround sound system for your music, a 60-channel plasma TV and complimentary Wi-Fi internet access.
The main living space is found alongside the outdoor dining area and offers yet more seating and dining options. A kitchen area offers a fridge, sink, complimentary bottled water and tea and coffee facilities.
Either side of the living space are two magnificent bedrooms, both with an en-suite bathroom and free-standing, in-room bathtub. A hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers are all supplied. Each bedroom also features a walk-in wardrobe and a king-size bed, made extra-comfortable with a luxurious King Koil mattress.
The Elysian resort gives you tropical gardens for serene walks and a wonderful pool area with yet more to offer. The poolside restaurant is a great place to get to know Indonesian cuisine and hosts weekly Satay and Rijsttafel nights to showcase some regional favourites. There is also a Balinese spa with a poolside bale for private treatments, whether it’s a manicure, cream bath or exfoliating massage.
In Seminyak you have nightlife, designer shopping and many more great restaurants, so your days and evenings can be as quiet or busy as you choose.Bali is the Indonesian island that has earned its reputation as a tropical paradise. Landscapes of white sand beaches, rice fields and rugged mountains give it an undeniable charm and plenty of variety, and the options for outdoor adventures are numerous too. In addition to its highly rated surf beaches, you can try everything from river rafting to quad biking, or take things a little easier on a glass-bottomed boat trip giving you a new perspective on the Indian Ocean.
The southern part of the island is home to many of the areas visitors know best. It would be doing Bali a big injustice to go no further than airport-adjacent Kuta – this resort is tourist central, and not to everyone’s taste. The good news, you don’t have to go much further to reach the more upmarket resort of Seminyak. With its spas, excellent restaurants and designer shopping, it’s a night and day contrast – and you have a lovely beach there which is the place to be at sunset.
Heading away from the coast, the traditional town of Ubud is another of the island’s highlights. A good place to experience the more ‘authentic’ Bali, Ubud has stunning temples as well as art museums and natural wonders like the photogenic Tegenungan Waterfall. The Tegalalang Rice Terrace is another one for your Instagram, along with the street markets and river views that give this town real charm.
Great respect is paid to ceremony and religion in Bali – it’s known as the Island of the Gods. The importance of spirituality and rituals makes it a natural home for yoga and meditative retreats, so if you are seeking peace and solitude, it is easy to find. Walks along the scenic Campuhan Ridge are another popular choice in Ubud – avoid the worst of the heat, and crowds, by setting out early.
