Guests will stop to draw breath as they take in the elegant cloistered balconies and verandas, the far-reaching river views and the glossy infinity pool surrounded by luxury day beds, jasmine and frangipani plants and swaying palm trees.
Set in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Pantai Sees on the southwest coast of Bali, this home is located not the border of the river while being surrounded by a forest which is thick with ancient, sacred trees. This five bedroomed home is a true haven of discreet luxury and peerless service within the depths of a hidden Balinese corner of Eden! The river flows from the beach to the swimming pool, and small Balinese temple to create a romantic and mysterious backdrop, rich with a sense of Balinese heritage.
The village is surrounded by the government protected rice fields and had become an exclusive yet understated and ever-so tasteful resort for those who prefer traditional and rural Balinese culture, while all the buzzing and dynamic hotspots and nightlife of Kuta and Seminyak are only a short distance away.
Fully staffed, from spa therapists to private Chef, housekeepers and concierge to driver, guests can truly kick back and adjust to the luxury setting and slow and tranquil Balinese pace.
The large wooden gates and forest side location make this a hidden gem, a secluded haven away from the outside world – the bubbling water feature and flowering bougainvillaea will welcome the guests as they enter and the set of this prestigious villa.
In true Balinese style, the outdoor and indoor spaces fuse seamlessly – there is ample scope for al fresco dining in groups of with the family. Imagine sitting back with a glass of wine as the sun softens over the river views, or taking morning coffee and pastries on the balcony amid the tropical and vivacious plant life!
There is a large poolside “chill out” area, complete with daybeds and loungers sheltered by a timer roof, whilst the pool itself has a shallow end for children; it is fed by three small waterfalls and bordered by a timber deck, and features a terrazzo platform that appears to float on the surface of the water, whilst the serene Buddha statue adds to the magical ambience. There are a further sunrise and sunset garden, each coming into their own at their respective times of day – ideal for meditation of peaceful stillness with nature – this home very much imbibes the principles of Balinese oneness with nature.
The two storey main building casts an impressive silhouette and is fronted by a raised, colonial-style veranda with large round grey marble-effect pillars and silver doors. Ever mindful of preserving the environment, the owners built the property around a towering ancient tree which grows through the veranda and second-floor balcony. The interiors are unashamedly romantic and luxuriant: bold black, white and silver decor give this place plenty of style and panache!
For downtime or teens in the group, there is a well-equipped entertainment pool with satellite television, DVD system and all the essentials of modern day living! The first floor boasts wonderful, airy and spacious balconies with sofas and seating areas, while each bedroom suite has its charm, its accents of colour and unique views and adornments.

Bali has been touted as the ‘island of the gods’ because of its strong spiritual heritage and the thousands of temples that occupy the island. With mile upon mile of beautiful beaches in Bali, picturesque mountains and green countryside, the island has become a world class destination and a major influence in the world of architecture and design.
Whilst Villa Lakiya benefits from the tranquillity of a rural location, close by Seminyak is an up-market beach resort at the southern tip of Bali, with high end shopping and restaurants, sleek bars and glittering nightlife. It is a playground for those who enjoy the finer things in life; foodies, fashionistas and the luxury set flock to this stylish paradise.

Seminyak’s splendid golden beach attracts a smart crowd, with a refined air of luxury, whilst the myriad of side streets offer great dining venues – among these is Bali’s famous “eat street.”
At just a few steps from Petitenget beach lies one of Bali’s major temples.
The temple at Petitenget offers a tranquil oasis behind the glitzy five star appeal of Seminyak. Referred to by locals as “Pura Petitenget,” this centuries old temple is a must-see during the traditional dance rehearsals held regularly by locals in a grand nearby pavilion. The red brick and sandstone architecture add to its ancient appeal. The impressive dragon staircase leads to the temple’s vast courtyard, where a dozen shrines and small pavilions draped in traditional Balinese chequered cloths create a compelling sight.
Petitenget forms one of the island’s Dang Kahyangan collections of sea temples that spiritually guard the island’s perimeters, initiated by the legendary Hindu priest Dang Hyang Nirartha on his historical mission from neighbouring island Java in the sixteenth century.
