Villa Cannizzo Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
This exquisite property located in the Northwest of Sicily offers breath taking views of the sea from its panoramic terrace. It sits defiantly on the rocky headlands of the island, a majestic perch for a property that puts you at the heart of nature. Birdsong, the gentle waves and sea breeze will beckon you down the staircase to the villa’s private platform equipped with sun loungers from which you can bask in the sun or take a secluded plunge.
All three bedrooms open onto the sea facing terrace, so that each guest can be immersed from the moment they rise in a serene Mediterranean morning. The property itself is excellently furnished, and meals can be taken on the terrace or in the bright panoramic living room. A stylish private swimming pool adorns the veranda, in which you can dip whilst admiring the astonishing views.
Under a five minute drive away you will find the property’s closest village, which, with its quiet charm, becomes an appealing destination when the fisherman return with the day’s catch! It is somewhat of a must for lovers of seafood to visit and taste the freshest fish, whether it be at a local restaurant or cooked on the BBQ back at the villa.Just 25km away from the property, you will find Palermo: a city of continuously changing character, with a distinct atmosphere which crackles with life and vivacity. A wealth of museums, Arabian domes and flourishes of baroque splendour are scattered amongst boisterous markets, chaotic traffic and powerful summer heat.
The often faded grandeur of many of Palermo’s wonderful palaces and churches in the centre seem incongruous with lively areas whose way of life doesn’t entirely belong to our times. This is especially true of the markets, whose Arabic origins are still apparent today thanks to their noise, smells, colours, narrow labyrinthine streets and the splendid array of food and other goods on display.
Even closer, just six kilometres south of the villa, is Bagheria. The town enjoys a privileged position with views of both the Mediterranean and the capital. Its name either descends from the Phoenician Bayharia (“land that descends toward the sea”) or the Arabic Bāb al-Gerib (“windy gateway”). Both descriptions are apt.
Places to visit in Bagheria include Villa Palagonia, renowned for its complex external staircase, curved façades, and marble. Designed by Tommaso Maria Napoli, it is today open to the public. The Museum of the painter Renato Guttuso with a permanent exhibition of his work is placed in Villa Cattolica. A famous collection of old sicilian toys, in the Mueso di Giocattolo di Pietro Piraino, is placed in Villa Cuto.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
