Villa Di Bello Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
This old fashioned countryside manor exudes a sense of authentic, rural Sicily. Whilst embedded in a beautiful pine forest, it is only a five minute drive from the sea, giving you a variety of backdrops for your holiday before we’ve even come to the nearby town of Mazara del Vallo, famed for its culture and the prowess of its fishermen!
You arrive at the property via a tree lined boulevard, which takes you to a yard area decorated with traditional farm tools and Sicilian wagons, not to mention an old enormous fig tree. Outside there is a large private swimming pool with surrounding deck chairs and a gazebo. For sports enthusiasts, there is a tennis court in excellent condition, and a grass football pitch. The garden is pretty and expansive, featuring exotic plants, tables and chairs, a stone BBQ and a hammock.
Inside, the property is unique and inviting. There is a sense of refined quality, characterised by the rustic furniture, fireplace, high ceilings and exposed wooden beams of the living room. Bare stone arches divide much of the house, making the interior feel as thrilling and roomy as the villa first appears to be from outside. A functioning antique billiards table offers further activity for fun loving guests.Mazaro del Vallo, five minutes from the property, offers a captivating mix of culture, history, ethnicity and art. It boasts the largest fishing fleet in Italy, a world famous Dancing Satyr netted from the sea, a North African Kasbah in the town centre and some delightful architecture.
The town provides excellent day out. Its old centre, running along the banks of the Mazaro river, has much to see, including a variety of churches, the beautiful Piazza delle Repubblica, a busy fishing harbour and, thanks to the presence of so many Tunisians, some excellent fish couscous!
Marsala, just 25 kilometres from the property, is located in the Province of Trapani in the westernmost part of Sicily. The town is known chiefly for two things.Firstly, it is famous for the docking of Garibaldi on 11 May 1860, during the Expedition of the Thousand. Secondly, for its exceptional Marsala wine, of which there is plenty to try!
Marsala includes in its territory the archaeological site of Motya island, an ancient Phoenician town. At the very westernmost point of both Sicily and Marsala is its splendid archaeological museum. Just south of the town itself is the superb beach Lido Signorino, with perfect white sand.
The Egadi Islands are extremely worth exploring, offering much natural beauty and tranquillity. These are just off the coast, accessible by boat trips which can be arranged in Marsala, though it is possible to walk to one of these islands when the tide permits. Strolling around these islands it is still possible to find deserted mountain paths; secluded coves and bays with crystal clear waters.
