Hurcott Farmhouse United Kingdom
Holiday Home Rental Description
Hurcott Farmhouse holds a wonderful location, nestled in a completely private spot amongst beautiful Somerset countryside. While guests will feel as though they are in total tranquillity, the nearby town of Ilminster, with its variety of helpful amenities, is just a five-minute car journey away.
While the 17th Century grade II listed farmhouse is bursting full of original charm with its thatched roof, stone floors and ancient oak beams, it has been recently renovated and today boasts contemporary and luxurious furnishings throughout. The accommodation is spread across the farmhouse and cottage which are connected by lockable doors on the ground floor, for those in smaller groups of four it is possible to simply rent
Cider Cottage on its own. The farmhouse and cottage can comfortably sleep up to twelve guests, for those in groups of fourteen, a further two guests can be accommodated on an additional bunk bed in one of the double bedrooms.
On the ground floor, there is plenty of entertaining space for the whole gang to gather together with two sitting rooms with cosy wood-burning stoves and two modern and fully equipped kitchens. On the ground floor is the first of the six bedrooms, a king-sized four poster room with a luxurious rolltop bath. Upstairs are the remaining en-suite bedrooms, three of which can be set up as either super-king size doubles or twin rooms, making Hurcott Farmhouse an excellent choice for a gathering of friends. Also on this level, is a family room with super-king size double with additional bunk bed and a king-size room.
Outside, the children will enjoy playing games in the large lawned garden, while there are dining facilities and a charcoal barbecue for the summer, or the hardy! The farmhouse is set in a quiet position nestled amongst farmland and woods.
There are a selection of excellent pubs in the vicinity, some within walking distance – like the Dinnington Docks, which is about a 45 minute walk – others a little further, but worth cycling or driving to, such as the Lord Poulett Arms.
Barrington House, a National Trust house with gardens open to the public, is nearby, as is Dillington House. The Dennis Chinaworks in Shepton Beauchamp are also very close and worth a visit, for the tea rooms as much as anything else.
There are several local cider producers whose orchards and presses are worth seeing, Perry’s Cider in Dowlish Wake being one, and Julian Temperley’s cider and cider brandy distillery over at Burrow Hill another.
A little further away the beach at Lyme Regis and walks along the Jurassic coastline are 40mins or so to the South, and the Hauser and Wirth gallery near Bruton is 40 mins or so to the East.At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
