The property is situated on the edge of the small village of Ginestas in the department of the Aude, in the sunny Languedoc-Roussillon region of the South of France, between the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi, the Espinouse mountains and the Minervois & Corbieres wine regions.
Complete exclusivity is offered whilst staying at this family chateau, which has a true “home from home” welcome and is available for long weekends, mid-weeks, as well as holiday breaks.
The on site restaurant provides affordable, seasonal, Mediterranean menus including breakfasts, lunches, snacks and event catering including wedding banquets, taking away all the worry about providing quality and inexpensive food for large groups.
With extensive interior and exterior dining accompanied with wonderful wines from the Minervois region of the South of France, the Chateau can offer both family style celebrations and spectacular corporate events, at an economical cost.Chateau du Minervois is located in the department of the Aude, in the Languedoc region of the South of France, known as the ‘Cathar country.’ The history is both fascinating and brutal dating back to the Romans and the Medieval ages involving the Albigensian crusade and earlier, the Visigoths.
Visits are recommended to the Castle of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi, both listed as World heritage sites. The area is nestled between the long beaches of the Mediterranean and the Black mountains and on clear days the magnificent snow covered peaks of the Pyrenees can be seen in the distance.
There are sandy beaches, breath taking mountain gorges, tranquil lakes and miles of forests to explore and every conceivable adventure sport to enjoy from paragliding to white water rafting. The area is in the ‘Littoral’Mediterranean band and enjoys 7 to 8 months of sunshine a year.
The area has a tradition of delicious country produce, combined with fine dining, including seafood, duck, lamb and foies gras. The area includes the renowned wine making regions of the Minervois and the Corbieres.
There is an abundance of sporting activities within close proximity to the chateau, the area is ideal for exploring on bicycles.
Canal boat excursions are available and we are conveniently positioned for walking or biking from the accommodation in the Corbieres or the Black mountains. Also available is kayaking and white water rafting in the mountain gorges, canoeing and swimming in the mountain rivers and horse riding locally or in the hills.
The long, hot sandy beaches of the Mediterranean offer perfect wind-surfing and para-gliding, with many water sports available on the inland lakes.
