Once you arrive, you can grab a bite to eat overlooking the marina or potter around the shops.
There are lots of other great places to visit nearby, including the gorgeous island of Capri that can be reached by boat and has stunning scenery including caves as well as amazing shopping and eateries. The famous archaeological site of Pompeii is easily reached from the villa by car at 37km away, and you can even explore Pompeii and Herculaneum with a tour guide to make the most of your day there. If you are happy to travel a little further, then it is worth visiting the city of Naples which is a ninety-minute drive away so set off early to fit everything in!Scalcia Pedra sits on the hillside overlooking the sea and the island of Capri in the south of Italy. The villa is part of a collection of hamlets which surround the town of Massa Lubrense.
Close to the villa, there are bars, restaurants and cafes which are just a short stroll away and ideal for having an evening meal out in a local trattoria. If you want to visit some typically Italian villages, there are several near the villa that could be reached by car or bus. These include; Marciano, Termini and the coastal village of Marina del Cantone. Each of these villages are just a few kilometres away and all have their own charms and characters.
Marina del Cantone is a fifteen-minute drive away and has a pretty marina surrounded by shops and cafes; this little village also has a selection of prime dining restaurants due to the area being visited by people from the nearby island of Capri.
Capri can be seen from your holiday villa and it would be a shame to visit the area and not take a trip over to the beautiful island. To visit, you can take a boat trip over which takes around 20-minutes or a longer trip which also visits some of the incredible caves of the island including the famous Blue Grotto. The island has lots to see and do and is especially renowned for its shopping, with a fantastic array of designer shops and small boutiques. Chic shops and restaurants sit side by side with traditional stalls selling seafood and Limoncello to create a unique atmosphere. Capri is also home to amazing religious and historical sites, so there is something for everyone to enjoy on the island.
Pompeii is a site which is worth making a day trip to by car or coach trip. This famous archaeological site is an hour from the villa and is one of the best insights we can have into Roman life due to the entire town being preserved after a volcanic eruption. Booking a reputable tour guide is a wise idea as they can show you little details you may miss on your own. If you have less time, visit nearby Herculaneum which is preserved in the same way but is a smaller area to walk around.
The city of Naples is also reachable within ninety minutes by car and if you set off early, you can cram a lot in a day of exploring. Naples has fantastic museums including the Archaeological Museum which has one of the best collections of Greek and Roman artefacts in the world.
