Set in an enviable spot overlooking the azure Kalkan coast, three-bedroomed Villa Baykus is your perfect base in Turkey. This stylish villa ticks off all the holiday favourites – prime beach postcode, private outdoor swimming pool and comfortable, modern furnishings, and then dials up the luxury some more. We’re taking a large terrace area that really makes the most of the photo-worthy views, as well as contemporary décor in the form of a calming colour palate.
Inside, you’ll find everything you’d need for a self-catering stay. There’s a spacious, open-plan living, kitchen and dining area with an indoor dining table seating up to eight, as well as a large television and comfy sofas and chairs. The villa also boasts a dishwasher – so cleaning up after meals is easy – and a washing machine so you don’t need to worry about getting sandy down at the beach. From this room, large glass sliding doors lead straight onto the sun lounger-lined terrace. Here, there’s an alfresco dining table – hello meals with views – plus a barbeque and a handy outdoor shower.
Villa Baykus is spread across four floors. There’s an extra under-cover seating area on the ground floor, and you’ll find two of the bedrooms – one double and one twin room – on the first floor. Both have glass windows which let in the beautiful natural light and benefit from their own bathrooms and sweeping balcony. The other double bedroom is in the loft – it’s a cute and cosy space, which also has a bathroom and a balcony. Air conditioning comes as standard across the villa, so you can get some cooling reprieve from the warming Mediterranean sun when you need to.
Looking to go exploring? No problem. It’s only a short 250-metre stroll to Kisla Beach. This beach flaunts a soft, sandy shore and is one of several around the bay with a beach club. So, there’s a restaurant, bar, sunbathing platforms and slides going into the sea there. The villa’s also a short stroll from local restaurants shops, and a slightly longer walk to the centre of Kalkan Town. Villa Baykus flaunts a fantastic spot, overlooking Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. It’s in the laid-back village of Kalamar, and has the majestic pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. In this quiet part of southern Turkey, you’re only a 250-metre walk from the nearest beach. At this sandy spot, you’ll find calm waters – its sheltered in a bay – as well as beach club with bars, restaurants and places to sunbathe. The villa’s a short 200-300 metre walk from local restaurants and shops, too.
A short 2.4km walk from the villa will take you into Kalkan Town, where there’s a charming harbour dotted with Turkish wooden gulets – traditional boats – as well as waterfront restaurants and a beautiful and historic old town area which extends back from the sea. Spend afternoons wandering the cobbled lanes, with houses draped in brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers, or dine on a roof terrace restaurant with spectacular views of the town and the coastline. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan, as well as Turkish Baths if you’d like a relaxing end-of-day massage.
To immerse yourself in the rich history, you can take a boat trip to the small island of Kekova where you can snorkel and explore the part sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake during the 2nd century. For outdoor adventurers, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with deeply cut valleys and canyons are an ideal place to hike.
