Four-bedroom Villa Kordere is a family-friendly gem in Kalkan, Turkey. Set in the peaceful foothills of the majestic Taurus Mountains, you get fantastic views of the tree-lined hillside and sweeping coastline below. Kick back on a cushioned lounger by your private swimming pool that looks as if it’s spilling straight into the sea – complete with mini water fountain. With plenty of chairs, too and an alfresco dining table, the terrace is the perfect place to catch rays or while away the afternoon.
The villa is elegantly furnished throughout with modern decor and furniture in a fresh and cool colour palette. Inside, you’ll find the spacious living room with a dining table to seat up to ten guests and sofas for relaxing on after a long day of exploring. With glass sliding doors, light flows into the villa, and from the living room, you can step straight out onto the pool terrace.
There’s also an American-style kitchen, fully-equipped with everything you’d need for a self-catering stay, like an oven, a microwave, a dishwasher and a washing machine. There’s an en-suite bedroom on the ground floor, too – perfect for those who have limited mobility or who would like some extra privacy.
On the first floor, you’ll find the other three en-suite bedrooms – one with a bathtub and a large balcony, from where you can survey the beautiful surroundings and catch a sunset. For your comfort, air conditioning and Wi-Fi comes as standard at this villa, and there’s a smaller pool for kids.
If you’d like to go exploring, you’re well placed to discover this beautiful part of Turkey. Make a beeline for one of the beaches or into Kalkan Town with its boat-dotted harbour, quaint streets lined with houses and shops, and its famous markets and waterfront restaurants. It’s a short drive from the centre of Kalkan – a vibrant town known for its charming character, stunning architecture and striking natural scenery. With a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere and plenty of things to do and see around the area, this villa is an ideal choice for families and couples alike.
Because Kalkan is at the base of the Taurus mountains, there are plenty of fantastic walking, biking and hiking routes. Most people use Kalkan as a base to explore the nearby Lycian ruins – exciting ancient sites – or engage in the many local activities like snorkelling. You can’t come to this beautiful part of Turkey without exploring the charming villages of Xanthos, Patara and Myra either.
In the town, you can visit one of the bustling markets where you’ll find everything from spices to hand-made rugs, produce and jewellery or browse the boutique shops. Look out for stalls selling fresh gozleme (savoury pancakes). Stop off for a drink and bite to eat at one of the waterfront cafes or famous roof-top restaurants, which offer fantastic food and unrivalled views of the bay.
In Kalkan, you can also take your pick from a selection of stunning golden beaches. There’s Kalkan beach near the marina, and Kaputas, a scenic sandy cove about 7km east of Kalkan. Patara Beach is also a popular choice. Most of the beaches have beach clubs which offer sports like sea kayaking, scuba diving and parasailing, and have decking with chairs and loungers, plus restaurants.
For a fun day trip, you can jump on a boat from Kalkan harbour to explore the surrounding bays and coves. Boats also leave Kas (a 30-minute drive away) to the island of Kekova where there are half-submerged ancient 2nd-century ruins – discover them via swimming, snorkelling or sea kayaking.
