In the master suite, there is even a quirky round bed! Outside, you’ll find a stunning infinity pool with swim-up views of the Taurus mountains and a stylish poolside pergola.
The most interesting design feature is in the colourful bedroom – above the circular bed, there’s an image of the sky on the ceiling through a window-like frame. The lights are constellation-like, with cosmic purple border lights and there is a billiards table just beyond the bed area. An on-trend teal ensuite area has a glass-encased shower, dual sinks and a luxurious double bathtub where you can gaze out at the to die for views.
Step into the open plan living space from the terrace through the huge sliding doors. Here, you’ll discover a dreamy plush blue velvet sofa, cream exposed brickwork and statement patchwork armchairs. Floating shelves are adorned with an array of aesthetically pleasing objects, while modern portrait art and an antique clock decorate the walls. The floor is laid with stylish distressed wood. For those who love to cook, there is a fully equipped American style kitchen with a breakfast bar and outside, a traditional stone barbecue.
Take a refreshing dip to cool off from the Mediterranean sunshine and enjoy the sunset views with a glass of champagne in hand – then treat yourself to a relaxing soak in the bubbling jacuzzi. After your swim, curl up together in the luxurious canopied hammock inside the pergola. Garden seating is available for dining, and a single palm tree sways just outside the living room.
For entertainment, dive straight into the games room for hours of arcade-style fun. There’s air hockey, pool and table football to get stuck into – the walls are decorated with carved wooden musicians, for contrast. Head to the boldly designed home theatre for a movie night – this studio features real cinema seats and interesting textured walls, complete with a 3D TV and leather bean bag chairs.Villa Kral is nestled on a hillside in the lovely small town of Kalkan,  the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Ideal for a romantic getaway, this area of Turkey has so much to offer. From dramatic mountains to sparkling shores, historical ruins and charming Old Towns, there’s so much to explore.
The villas is in the samll hamlet of Akbel perched at the top of Kalkan. Akbel boasts a handful of local shops and simple eateries. There is a small local market every Sunday, don’t miss the fish stall with a great selection of local catch.
With roots as a humble fishing village, Kalkan is now popular with holidaymakers and expats alike. The town itself is made up of cobblestone lanes, waterfront restaurants and chic boutiques. There is a weekly market, where you can buy everything from souvenirs to fresh herbs.
For a day at the beach, look no further than Kalkan beach, which is just 3km from the villa. A beautiful blue flag beach with white pebbles and calm, crystal clear waters, it’s perfect for swimming. You can also snorkel here and spot some exotic fish. The beach has breathtaking, vibrant orange sunsets – sip a cocktail and watch the silhouettes of the yachts and traditional ‘gulet’ boats returning to the harbour.
Nature lovers will adore Putara beach, which is part of a nearby National Park. This gorgeous beach is home to many species of bird and famously, sea turtles. The park has lots of nature conservation, and the beach is one of the most prolific areas for baby sea turtle hatching.
Another natural beauty spot with cultural significance is the Green Lake, high in the Taurus mountains. An emerald glacial lake, it is home to semi-nomads who welcome visitors. Legend says the lake and the fountain nearby have healing powers. Many locals make pilgrimages to this fountain to drink from its holy water.
In terms of history and culture, the Lycian ruins are majestic and feature unusual funerary architecture. Drive along the ancient Lycian Way from Kayakoy to Antalya, stopping at archaeological sites along the way. Tios is the home of the ruins of many empires including the Ottomans. According to ancient mythology, the inaccessible cliff face features a large tomb that was once home to Pegasus, the winged horse in Greek myths.
A trip to a traditional hammam is a fantastic way to explore the invigorating Turkish style of bathing. Bathers are given an exfoliating full body scrub, an oil massage and are then washed clean with hot water. Steam swirls around the room, helping to de-stress and release toxins.
Turkish hospitality is warm and inviting, and one of the best ways to experience it is through the food. Pide is an oval pizza-style flatbread, topped with ground meat, cheese or vegetables and stonebaked. The best place to try it is at a traditional ‘pedici’ which only bakes this type of flatbread. Another dish is Kumpir, baked potatoes filled with cheese, sausage, pickles and often, Russian salad.
