The balcony flaunts a table and chairs so you sit outside with a cooling drink.
Want to explore the local area? We don’t blame you. You can walk down to the shore, and there are shops and restaurants within walking distance, too. If you’d like to venture further, you can walk to Kalkan Town. There’s an old town to explore there, as well as fishing-boat lined harbour and plenty of waterfront cafes and restaurants. Jump on a boat from the harbour to see more of the coast. Villa Kubra is in the old fishing village of Kalamar in Kalkan, Turkey. It occupies a quiet spot, overlooking Kalamar Bay, and has the pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. From the villa, you’re a short stroll from Kalamar Beach Club. There you’ll find calm waters and soft sands. The beach club offers a restaurant, places to sunbathe and watersports opportunities, too.
A short walk from the villa will also take you into livelier Kalkan Town, where there’s a colourful harbour dotted with traditional boat, as well as waterfront restaurants and a beautiful old town which extends back from the sea. Spend afternoons wandering the streets, browsing for souvenirs, or dine on a rooftop restaurant with spectacular views of the town and coast. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan, so you don’t have to visit the same beach twice.
For fun day trips, you can jump on a boat to the small island of Kekova where you can explore the part-sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake. Or, a traditional wooden boat to traverse the coast. For top walking routes, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with its deeply cut valleys and canyons are your go-to. You could also join the popular Lycian Way Trail – a footpath that takes in fantastic coastal views – so, camera at the ready.
