There’s an indoor games arcade with vibrant 80s inspired decoration and even a mini-golf course. Surrounded by amazing nature, the villa boasts gorgeous views, especially from the roof terrace.
The villa is decorated in bursts of sunshine yellow, both inside and out. Airy open sides lead directly out into the pool terrace, where the refreshing infinity pool allows you to swim up to breathtaking mountain views. The bubbling whirlpool is perfect for relaxing with a glass of celebratory champagne. On the spacious natural stone terrace, there’s a bamboo swing with cosy cushions and two choices of double day beds.
Guests will adore the charming master suite with several glass walls that offer spectacular views over the lush countryside, especially at sunset. A bright citrus coloured bed with a quirky quilted headboard is the focal point of the room. Yellow luminescent leaf stencil art adorns the wall. A luxurious double bathtub sits pride of place in the ensuite bathroom.
The fresh, modern living room balances sunny yellow sofas with walls of tonal grey brickwork and lace style leaf window art. Fun multicoloured rugs and cushions add a cheerful splash of colour and pattern. You can walk straight out to the pool terrace through the large windows. An intimate dining area is just outside on the patio, or alternatively, guests can eat in the living area. Guests who like to whip up a feast enjoy access to a fully equipped, high gloss American kitchen.
Step into the retro games zone and discover a Gamebox arcade machine, table football and pool, alongside vintage art featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and Pacman. In the hallway, Japanese anime art adorns the walls. There’s even a cinema studio decorated in a plush Old Hollywood style, with quilted black textured walls and a deep red leather couch, black satin cushions and dramatic curtains. On the roof, there is a fantastic mini-golf course – it really is a honeymoon suite with a difference!Perfectly placed on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, the charming town of Kalkan is ideal for a romantic getaway. The villa is set at the top of Kalkan in the small hamlet of Akbel. From soaring mountains to glittering coastline, architecture steeped in history and tasty local cuisine, there’s so much to explore and enjoy. With roots as a humble fishing village, the area of Kalkan is now popular with holidaymakers and expats alike.
Kalkan has a superb Blue Flag beach with white pebbles that is conveniently located close to the villa. With calm, crystalline waters, it’s perfect for swimming and snorkelling among exotic fish. The beach is a prime spot for the area’s breathtaking orange sunsets, where you can watch the silhouettes of the yachts and traditional ‘gulet’ boats returning to the harbour.
Akbel boasts a handful of local shops and simple eateries. There is a small local market every Sunday, don’t miss the fish stall with a great selection of local catch.
For nature lovers, visit tranquil Putara beach. Part of a nearby National Park, this beach is home to sea turtles and many species of bird. Lots of nature conservation occurs in this area and this beach is one of the most prolific areas for baby sea turtle hatching. Don’t miss the Green Lake, nestled high in the Taurus mountains. Home to semi-nomads who welcome visitors, this glacial lake is emerald green and crystal clear. Legend says the water has healing powers, as does the fountain nearby. Locals make pilgrimages to this fountain to drink from its holy water.
In terms of history and culture, the Lycian ruins are majestic and feature unusual funerary architecture. Tios is the home of the ruins of many empires including the Ottomans. According to ancient mythology, the inaccessible cliff face features a large tomb that was once the home of Pegasus, the winged horse in Greek myths.
A trip to a Turkish hammam is a perfect way to get acquainted with the invigorating, traditional style of bathing. Bathers are given an exfoliating full body scrub, a relaxing oil massage and are then washed clean with hot water. Steam swirls around the spa and helps to de-stress and calm guests.
Turkish hospitality is warm and inviting, and one of the best ways to experience it is through the food. Pide is a stonebaked pizza-style flatbread, topped with ground meat, spinach and cheese, meat or vegetables. It comes in a distinctive oval shape. Another dish to try is Kumpir, baked potatoes stuffed with a mixture of cheese, sausage, pickles and often, Russian salad. Look out for Kofte meatballs, served in a wrap or with rice and salad – and there are 40 kinds of street kebab in Turkey – see how many you can try!At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
