Escape to Turkey’s picture-perfect Kalkan coast with a stay at this stylish four-bedroom, family-friendly villa. Set in the hillside, whitewashed Villa Tavsan boasts fantastic sea views of sweeping Kalamar bay and the bright-blue waters below. The focal point here has to be the large, infinity-edge pool – with a separate circular and shallower whirlpool – and a lounger-dotted sunbathing terrace, from where you can soak in the coastal vistas and the warm Mediterranean sunshine.
Step through the large glass doors from the pool terrace and you’ll be in the living room area. There, you’ll find comfy sofas and a television for relaxing after an action-packed day of exploring, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you’d need for a self-catering stay. Plus, there’s a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave to make your holiday as stress-free as possible. Keep up with your fitness routine on the villa’s treadmill looking out to the sea or challenge the kids to a game of table tennis. This villa also has a barbeque and alfresco dining table so meal time are a real treat here.
There are three double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and four bathrooms – one with a hot tub – at Villa Tavsan so there’s plenty of room for families or groups. The villa can comfortably sleep up to eight. Rooms have large glass wall-to-wall windows to really frame those fantastic views and plenty of space for unpacking your holiday belongings. Some of the rooms also have balconies so you can step straight outside from your bedroom into the sunshine, and relax there too.
If you’d like to go exploring, Kalkan Bus Station is only a short 2.1km from the villa, while popular Kaputas Beach with its soft, sandy shores and calm, clear waters for swimming is only 6km away so you’re perfectly placed for discovering more of this fantastic area of Turkey. Villa Tavsan is in the laidback village of Kalamar in Kalkan, Turkey. It occupies a quiet spot, overlooking Kalamar Bay, and has the majestic pine tree-lined Taurus Mountains as backdrop. You’re only a short 200-metre walk from Kalamar Beach Club. There you’ll find calm waters and soft sands. The beach club offers a restaurant, places to sunbathe and watersports opportunities, too.
A short 2km walk from the villa will take you into Kalkan Town, where there’s a colourful harbour dotted with Turkish wooden gulets – traditional boats – as well as waterfront restaurants and a beautiful and historic old town area which extends back from the sea. Spend afternoons wandering the cobbled lanes, with houses draped in brightly coloured bougainvillaea flowers, or dine on a roof terrace restaurant with spectacular views of the town and the coastline. There are also plenty of swimming beaches in Kalkan, as well as Turkish Baths if you’d like a relaxing end-of-day massage. Mezes are the popular food here, and look out for places serving freshly-caught seafood, too.
For fun day trips, you can jump on a boat to the small island of Kekova where you can explore the part-sunken ruins of Dolchiste, an ancient town which was destroyed by an earthquake. Or, a traditional wooden boat to traverse the coast. For top walking routes, the dramatic Taurus Mountains with its deeply cut valleys and canyons are your go-to. You could also join the popular Lycian Way Trail – a footpath that takes in fantastic coastal views – so, camera at the ready.
