The Isle of Anglesey is a place of unparalleled beauty, fascinating history and amazing adventure. It boasts stunning landscapes and seascapes, picturesque towns and villages, miles of breathtaking scenic walks on the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, gorgeous historic buildings, sensational beaches and an incredible range of water-based activities. Anglesey really is a place for those that love the great outdoors. At the end of a thrilling and tiring day, Menai Lodge is just the place to come home to. This wonderful detached Anglesey cottage sleeps 8 guests in superb comfort and luxury. From the outside, Menai Lodge looks very smart, very tidy and beautiful with its traditional stone front and manicured gardens. However, inside, you are in for a real treat. Once you open the front door, your chin is likely to drop! This is no ordinary cottage. Designers have worked their magic, combining contemporary gems with stunning restored beams to create a fabulous loft feel. The vaulted ceilings create space, atmosphere and a wonderfully indulgent ambience. You are definitely in a 5-star stay at Menai Lodge! This is a true rural retreat where you can relax in the private hot tub admiring the breathtaking countryside views. You will discover gorgeous golden sands just a short drive away and beautiful rugged landscapes right on your doorstep. The open plan living space is absolutely stunning with deep, sumptuous sofas surrounding the modern wood-burning stove, a dining area and a very stylish kitchen. The cool grey shaker style cabinetry is top-notch, and the chef in your party will be happy with the large range of cooker and other appliances. Neatly tucked away, you will find a washing machine and tumble dryer. This living space is a wonderfully social space. The colour palettes of soft greys and browns, with snazzy colour pops of red, work perfectly with the warm wooden floor and the fabulous beams.  Menai Lodge boasts four beautifully decorated bedrooms, of which three are on the ground floor. There are flexible sleeping arrangements with 2 of the bedrooms enjoying superbly comfortable zip and link beds. They are made up as super-kings but can be made into twins if you prefer. The other two bedrooms boast a super-king bed and a double respectively. Downstairs, you will find all three super-king rooms. They are stunning with wooden beamed ceilings, two of which are very high and sloping.  All enjoy direct access to the terraces and garden. There are two immaculate, contemporary ensuite bathrooms downstairs and one family bathroom. They enjoy large rain showers, and two have tubs where you can enjoy a long, relaxing soak. The double bedroom upstairs enjoys a dreamy ambience with its vaulted ceiling, chaise longue and television. Each bedroom is a luxurious haven, all as gorgeous as each other.  Menai Lodge also boasts enclosed front and rear gardens with far-reaching panoramic views across the Isle and beyond. You can enjoy alfresco dining, lounging or pop a cork and relax in the comfort of your bubbling, private jacuzzi with a glass of fizz. You really are going to be indulged in this outstanding, peaceful location. The Isle of Anglesey is an island full of character and boasts incredible scenery, a wonderful range of activities, beautiful wildlife and a fantastic programme of festivals celebrating local food, music, culture and its unique heritage. It is a very special place to get away from it all, but equally, it is a place to get out and do it all! You can enjoy hiking, cycling, bird watching, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, paddleboarding, sailing, visiting castles and other historic buildings, visiting stunning gardens, taking boat trips, the list is endless! Much of the 125 miles of coastline has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with breathtaking sandy beaches, of which 6 have Blue Flag status, tranquil hidden coves, towering cliffs, home to hundreds of nesting birds and tranquil green spaces interspersed with carpets of colourful flowers.  Anglesey is the perfect playground for watersports and walking the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. There are over 100 different rock types on the island and a large collection of ancient sites, an archaeologists dream. It is no wonder that the whole of Anglesey has been declared a Global Geopark. Nature lovers enjoy spotting a variety of rare birds, while history buffs will be mesmerised by links with Oliver Cromwell and Charles Dickens. You can explore Anglesey’s largest fen, Cors Erddreiniog where you will find Fly Orchid, Carnivorous Sundew as well as butterflies, moths and dragonflies. The Llyn Cefni Reservoir is alive with the sounds of warblers, wren and kingfishers while the Newborough Forest and Warren dunes are home to butterwort, dwarf adder’s tongue and shore dock. The South Stack Lighthouse and cliffs, a bracing Anglesey outpost, is home to puffins, choughs, guillemots and razorbills.  You will cross the Menai Suspension Bridge which is two miles from Menai Lodge. It was built by Thomas Telford and opened in 1826. Prior to that cattle farmers would somehow persuade their herd to swim across the Menai Straits to market! On the shore of the Menai Strait, you will find the 18th century Plas Newydd House and Gardens. It is managed by the National Trust and houses a military museum, an Australian arboretum and a Rex Whistler painting exhibition from the 1930s.  Beaumaris Castle is also close to the cottage. It was the last castle built, though never completed, under Edward I in the 13th century. It is designated as a World Heritage Site. Llanddwyn Island is one of the most picturesque locations in Wales. The ancient ruined church was once home to the Welsh patron saint of lovers, Saint Dwynwen from the 5th century AD. When Maelon, her true love was turned to ice, Dwynwen moved to Llanddwyn Island. Other popular attractions on Anglesey are the Anglesey Farmer’s Market where you can buy delicious Welsh Black beef, local cheeses and fresh crab, Lligwy Beach which has been named as one of the top 10 Best Picnic Spots in Britain by Coast Magazine, Aberlleiniog Castle, the town of Amlwch with its windmills, old harbour and Copper Kingdom visitor centre and Chateau Rhianfa.  At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
