Rent Villa Cantiles Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
Perched on the hillside overlooking La Herradura, this wonderful modern villa enjoys spectacular views over the bay and the Mediterranean Sea. With plenty of space to spread out, and a large terrace and pool, it is the perfect place to spend a relaxing break with family and friends.
Located off a quiet residential street, Villa Cantiles is traditionally constructed with whitewashed walls and a typical tiled roof. Arranged over four levels, the interior has been recently renovated, and the spacious rooms are well-designed with minimal, well-presented furnishings and spectacular outdoor spaces.
The main living space can be found on the ground floor, where a large living/dining area enjoys plenty of natural light, with glass doors that wrap the front of the room and open out onto the terrace beyond. Leave the doors ajar to enjoy the gentle sea breeze and create a fluid indoor-outdoor setting. To the back of the room, a beautiful modern kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances and plenty of surfaces for preparing meals. A wooden dining table sits to one side, whilst to the other end, a large sofa area and TV face out to the pool, offering a comfortable spot to relax in the evening and watch a movie.
Sliding doors give way to the terrace, where a wonderful outdoor dining space features a large table and an impressive barbecue area, perfect for entertaining guests and enjoying the balmy summer evenings. A wooden pergola shelter the table, and a generous informal seating area sits within the low walls, creating the perfect spot to relax with a drink after dinner. Opening out to the view, the terrace stretches away from the villa, where the well-proportioned pool invites you to swim, and a series of sun loungers arranged along its edge are perfect for relaxing beneath the clear blue skies. Enclosing the property, a stone wall hugs the back of the terrace, whilst to the front, a further seating area is perfectly positioned to sit in the sun and admire the wonderful views down to the coast.
A further terrace can be found on the lower level, where an external staircase leads down to a small garden area with a jacuzzi and table tennis table. On this floor, there is a second seating area, as well as a utility space with a washing machine, and a further two bedrooms.
There are six bedrooms in total for guests to choose from, all benefitting from air-conditioning and heating to ensure a comfortable temperature can be found even during the hottest summer nights. On the top floor, a generous main suite opens out to a private terrace, inviting you to step out of bed and take in the spectacular views down to the sea. A couple of armchairs offer an idyllic spot for sipping a quiet coffee under the morning sun or enjoying a romantic evening and sharing a bottle of wine whilst watching the sunset over the bay. On the first floor, there are three further bedrooms, a large double with an en-suite shower room and another with access to a private balcony. A third room has two sets of bunk beds, ideal for children, whilst the remaining two bedrooms are located on the lower level, each enjoying en-suite shower rooms and direct access to the garden.

Situated on the hillside above La Herradura, Villa Cantiles is located on the edge of the Cerro Gordo Nature Reserve whilst being just a short drive down to the coast and vibrant seafront town, making it a wonderful base to explore the surrounding region.
A short walk down the hill from the Villa, the charming Playa Calaiza tucked at the base of the cliffs is a wonderful spot to enjoy an afternoon beside the sea. Surrounded by pine trees and rocky outcrops, the lesser-known beach has a natural appeal, with clear blue waters that are great for snorkelling. It is also possible to hire a kayak from the town centre and paddle around the cliffs to the bay, stopping to discover the hidden coves along the way. Alternatively, La Herradura’s main beach is just 10 minutes by car. Taken from the Spanish word for horseshoe, the gently curving bay is perfectly enclosed between two headlands, with a long stretch of dark sand and lovely blue water for swimming. The Paseo Andres Segovia hugs the back of the beach, where you can find a number of options for water sports activities, or stroll along in the evening and stop off at one of the chiringuitos (beach bars) for a drink whilst looking out to sea. To the eastern end of the beach, Chambao de Joaquin sits within a traditional Andalusian ‘chambao‘ where you can enjoy a delicious dinner of traditional barbecued sardines and soak up the lively atmosphere.
To the other side of the headland, the attractive Marina de la Este sits in an enclave between the sea and the mountain, built around a rocky island outcrop. A popular spot amongst scuba divers, the marina offers a number of boat excursions, and there are also a handful of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy some fresh fish whilst watching the harbour’s buzzing activity.
Plenty more beaches and picturesque bays line the coast, or headline inland to discover the region’s rich landscape. The Maro-Cerro Gordo Natural Park covers 1,815 hectares, with breathtaking cliffs and woodlands filled with Aleppo pines, locust trees and wild olives. A number of trails invite you to spend a day in nature and explore the area to discover the wide variety of plants and wildlife. Leading out from the headland above the villa, a trail winds along to the cliff’s further point, which is crowned by the Torre de Cerro Gordo, where you can see the remains of the ancient tower and enjoy breathtaking views along the coastline. On your way back, stop off at the lovely El Mirador restaurant, which is perched upon the cliff top and serves up a wonderful variety of Mediterranean and traditional tapas plates which you can enjoy from its privileged setting.
The park is also home to the well-known Nerja Caves, a series of caverns boasting impressive rock formations, ancient cave paintings and a number of archaeological findings. Just 20 minutes drive from the villa, you can take a guided tour to discover the unique history or, during the summer months, enjoy an evening concert set before the dramatic backdrop of colourfully lit stalagmites.
