Rent Villa Sivergues France
Holiday Home Rental Description
Embrace the essence of Provence at this lovely 18th century mas close to Apt and Saignon. The vast estate takes you back in time with traditional stone walls and an old borie alongside oaks, cypresses, cherry trees and pines. There is even a hiking trail through the domaine – return to cool off in the glorious swimming pool or find a shady spot to rest overlooking the Luberon landscapes. Step inside Villa Sivergues to appreciate its heritage alongside attractive modern renovations. The spacious living room has tall windows overlooking the characterful stone walls and glistening trees whilst the kitchen is professionally equipped, opening out to the minimalist dining area with a long table for sociable dining surrounded by bold works of art. An arched window beautifully frames the Luberon views as you enjoy Provençal feasts together. The main part of the house is home to three double bedrooms on the first floor, all with en suite bathrooms, including a master bedroom with a private terrace and yet more stunning vistas. The second floor has two children’s bedrooms whilst an annexe (separated by the summer kitchen) sleeps another 9 guests across its four en suite bedrooms. Altogether, Villa Sivergues can comfortably host up to 15 guests plus an additional four children. The rustic gardens are full of charm with several terraces for al-fresco dining and relaxation, many with Luberon views. As you explore the domaine, come across fruit trees, an olive grove and an old pond where you can gaze towards hilltop Saignon. The well-equipped summer kitchen is ideal for long al-fresco feasts whilst the 18m long pool is perfect for swimming lengths or just enjoying the coolness of the water on warm afternoons. This is what relaxed summers in Provence should be all about. It’s wonderful being a short drive to Apt, a handsome historic town with plenty of characterful shops, cafes and restaurants as well as the Luberon’s largest market on a Saturday morning – get there early to join locals buying seasonal produce such as Vaucluse cherries, strawberries, olives, honey, herbs, lavender products, melons and so much more depending on the time of year. Nearby Saignon is one of the lesser known villages of the Luberon but an absolute jewel with its cobbled medieval lanes, shady squares and café terraces. There are more superb views to be enjoyed from the village’s perched setting. Elsewhere, you are well located for visiting the likes of Gordes, Ménerbes, Roussillon and Lourmarin or head a little off the tourist trail and discover other little gems of the Luberon (Goult, Joucas, Cucuron, Saint-Saturnin-lès-Apt and so on). Look out for vineyards, wine châteaux, Michelin starred restaurants and Farmer’s markets as well as gorgeous walking and hiking trails, cycling routes and horse-riding across this idyllic part of Provence.
