Rent Villa Shangri La Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
Perched on the hillside, Villa Shangrila occupies a wonderful position with uninterrupted views down to the coast, making it a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxing break along the Mediterranean.
Set across one level, the villa forms an ‘L’ shape that encloses the outdoor space and makes the most of the stunning sea views. It has been constructed in a traditional style, with whitewashed exterior facades and a terracotta tiled roof, whilst the internal space is bright and airy, decorated with Moorish features that add warmth and a sense of familiarity to the interior.
Passing through the entrance hall, to one side is the living room. Generously proportioned, with a wonderfully high ceiling and skylight, its characterful furnishings and curated objects offer a personal touch making it homely and inviting. Two large sofas and armchairs are positioned in front of the fire, creating the ideal place to enjoy cooler evenings or spend some time inside and curl up with a book. Two sliding doors give access out onto the terrace, which can be left ajar to draw in the gentle sea breeze and create a fluid inside-outside living space. The adjacent room features a generous dining table that leads through to the kitchen. Placed at the end of the house, the kitchen is both modern and cosy; a dark slate tiled floor compliments the white-washed walls and natural light illuminates the room from multiple aspects. With carefully chosen ornaments and splashes of colour, the kitchen is fully equipped with quality appliances and has everything you may need to prepare meals during your stay.
The bedroom area is found within the side wing of the house, with all four rooms having direct access to the garden. The main suite is bright and airy, with a king-size bed and a separate dressing room. It boasts a luxury ensuite bathroom with a large sunken tub and walk-in shower. The second bedroom contains a queen size bed, as well as a sofa bed, also benefitting from a dressing room and private bathroom. The third bedroom includes two twin beds, whilst the final room has two twin beds and a sofa bed for additional guests. Both bedrooms benefit from private bathrooms.
Sheltered by swaying palms and regional plants, a grass lawn extends out from the veranda to the infinity pool. Curving around the front boundary of the property, the pool is considerably sized, making it ideal for swimming lengths in the mornings or enjoying a refreshing dip to escape the sun’s heat. A children’s basin is found on the pool’s lower level, ideal for young kids to splash around safely. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off. A variety of sun loungers are arranged around the pool’s edge, inviting you to recline and soak up the Mediterranean sun whilst enjoying the spectacular views out to sea.
To the back of the villa, there is another charming garden with an informal seating area surrounded by orange and lemon trees. The gas barbecue is found here, making it the ideal place to cook dinner outside and enjoy a long evening beneath the stars with all the family. The garden also features a football goal and ping pong table for further entertainment. There is also a private driveway with ample parking for up to six cars. *Please be aware that this property is only bookable from June 2024!*

Situated in a tranquil residential neighbourhood between Benalmadena and Fuengirola, Villa Shangrila is perfectly located to explore the coastline and attractions of the surrounding area.
The blue flag beach of Playa de Carvajal is less than a fifteen-minute walk away, a long stretch of dark sand and gentle waters, ideal for strolling along the shoreline or padding in the clear blue sea. Regularly cleaned and monitored by lifeguards, it is a great spot for families to spend the day, and there are a handful of beach bars and restaurants to enjoy lunch or a refreshing drink during the afternoons. A short walk to the southern end will bring you to Marisqueria Los Marinos Jose, a wonderful restaurant offering a variety of fresh dishes that celebrate the region’s fish and seafood. Head down at the end of the day to enjoy a delicious supper on the seafront, and be sure to check out their extensive wine list.
Whilst Benalmadena Costa is a great place to enjoy the lively marina and touristic activities, tucked in the foothills of the mountain is the lesser-known Benalmadena Pueblo. A charming village with stunning views across the coast makes it a lovely afternoon out. Wander through the sleepy Andalusian village and admire its history: first marked by the Moors in the 11th century, it is a maze of narrow cobbled streets and whitewashed houses adorned with colourful flowers and characterful doorways. Visit the Plaza de Espana to browse the local crafts or stop at one of the terraced restaurants to enjoy some traditional tapas plates. La Nina is a popular tavern named after the square’s sculpture. Serving typical Andalusian dishes, try homemade specialities such as spicy meatballs or sweet stuffed peppers. Alternatively, La Perla is an ideal spot to enjoy views of the Mirador de Muro gardens.
Another beautiful inland village is Mijas Pueblo, perched 400 meters above sea level. Built between the 16th and 18th century, there is some lovely historic architecture, including remnants from an ancient Moorish castle and the lovely San Sebastian Church on the Plaza de la Libertad. There are a number of terraced restaurants, including La Alcazaba, which offers traditional Spanish dishes to be enjoyed with spectacular views of the coast.
For those looking to make the most of the sea, head down to the marina in Benalmadena Costa, where you can take a ferry trip down to Fuengirola and admire the coastline from a different perspective. No need to disembark; simply enjoy an afternoon out on the water before returning to Benalmadena for an ice cream or early evening drink. Sip a cocktail at one of the waterside bars and take in the bustling activity of the marina. Or make the most of the warm summer nights at one of the popular dance clubs or discos and party through to the early hours.
