Situated in the centre of Courchevel Moriond, Apartment Chartier enjoys stunning views across the valley, and with the lifts just moments away, guests can get out on the runs early and explore the resort’s impressive piste map.
Sitting at 1650m, Moriond has a friendly atmosphere and is ideal for those looking to escape the crowds of 1850 and enjoy a relaxing break in the mountains. The village has good local amenities, quality hire shops and plenty of great restaurants, perfect for lunch in the sun or a fun dinner out. La Casserole boasts a fantastic south-facing terrace, whilst Le Bel Air is popular amongst both locals and visitors, and you can take a seat at one of the outdoor tables and enjoy delicious plates of French classics. An alpine holiday wouldn’t be complete without indulging in fondue or raclette, and Le Petit Savoyard is the place to go. Run by locals, the charming little restaurant always has a buzzing atmosphere.
Part of the Trois Vallées, Courchevel is the ultimate resort with something to offer for everyone. Whether a seasoned skier or those just starting out, the mostly north-facing slopes ensure reliable snow cover with some of the Alps’ finest powder. Topping out at 2740m, La Saulire is the highest point in the valley and boasts steep corridors and challenging technical pistes. Combe Saulire is a great signature run best hit early in the day, or if you are looking for speed, head over to L’Eclipse, which was recently completed for the 2023 World Championships.
Beginners can enjoy dedicated zones at La Tania or practice on the nursery slopes, and there are plenty of ski schools that will offer both group and private tuition to help you build up confidence before heading further up the mountain.
For non-skiers, the pedestrian lift pass is a great way to experience the Alps, and you can head out to explore the valley’s network of hiking trails. Grab a pair of ‘raquettes’ and wander through the wooded pines, or take a tour to be guided across the mountain’s wilder side. A selection of toboggan runs offer an entertaining afternoon, and the impressive Moriond luge track is a heart-stopping experience. Speed down the slopes, racing through underground tunnels and zig-zagging around bends, or opt for a more gentle ride being pulled along on a sledge by a pack of charming huskies.
If you are simply looking for a bit of rest and relaxation, Courchevel hosts some of the world’s most exclusive hotels, many of which feature luxury spas open to non-guests. Book into a treatment or indulge in an afternoon of pampering, soaking tired muscles in a snow-lined jacuzzi or enjoying a well-earned massage.
