Rent Maison Elysee France
Holiday Home Rental Description
In a fantastic setting close to both Domme and Gourdon, Maison Elysee is a traditional Dordogne house full of character and modern comforts. Sit back in your private garden and gaze at the picturesque views before taking a dip in the heated swimming pool.
Set in a small village/hamlet, there is ample space in this authentic home with an open-plan living and dining space beneath the wood beams. Sit back on the comfy sofa and armchairs watching TV or reading books from the library, facing the grand decorative fireplace, and stroll through to the well-equipped kitchen to prepare feasts using the finest Périgord ingredients from local markets. You can choose to dine beneath the pretty lights of the dining area or under the shade of the lime tree outside.
Follow the main staircase upstairs to the double bedroom with a queen-size bed and a charming children’s bedroom with three colourful singles. There’s a third bedroom via the narrow stairs from the kitchen with a small double bed and cot, plus an attractive ground floor shower room, allowing Maison Elysee to sleep up to 7 guests.
Lounge on the poolside terrace looking back at the pretty grey shutters of your holiday home or admire the glorious Dordogne countryside around you. Despite its location within a small hamlet, guests have commented that the garden feels like a haven of tranquillity.
Within a 10 to 15-minute drive you can choose between Domme and La Roque-Gageac by the banks of the Dordogne, ideal for canoeing, kayaking and boat trips, or the honey-coloured houses of historic Gourdon. There is so much to explore from pre-historic caves and handsome market towns to impressive gardens and iconic French châteaux, not to mention a wealth of picture-perfect villages and vineyards dotted across the landscapes of the Dordogne and Lot regions of south-western France.

The nearest amenities can be found in Salviac, Domme and Gourdon.
Indeed, Domme (10km) is one of the Dordogne’s most iconic bastide towns, loved for its picturesque setting and glorious views over the valley and river below. It is classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and it’s wonderful to be able to explore the historic lanes and even visit the cave system underneath the main square. Down by the river you will find canoeing and kayaking opportunities in idyllic surroundings.
La Roque-Gageac (15km) is another famous Dordogne village, this time right by the edge of the river with its century-old houses and towering limestone cliffs above, yet again one of France’s listed ‘Plus Beaux Villages’. Take a cruise on a traditional ‘gabarre’ boat along the Dordogne River to discover the fantastic scenery. The historic town of Sarlat-la-Canéda (23km) is also easily reached, a must for gastronomes with its enticing restaurants and bustling markets showcasing some of the fine cuisine of the Périgord Noir.
Heading over to the Lot department, Gourdon (10km) boasts a beautifully preserved old town with honey coloured houses, not far from the fascinating rock formations of Cougnac (11km) whilst the UNESCO World Heritage site, Rocamadour (39km) is less than an hour away for an incredible day out.
You could even drive south to the Lot River with picture-perfect villages including medieval Puy-l’Évêque (41km), artistic Saint-Cirq-Lapopie (61km) and the handsome town of Cahors (44km) with its vineyards producing some of the finest Malbecs in the world.
Back to the Dordogne, visit Les Jardins de Marqueyssac (19km) and the pretty Jardins d’eau de Carsac (22km) and find plenty more canoeing and kayaking opportunities along the Dordogne River whether you venture north-west towards Limeuil (44km) or north-east to Souillac (30km) and beyond.
