The pace of life in the Dordogne is languid, laid-back, and positively infectious. Relax amidst bucolic beauty as you drift along the Dordogne River or wander through the forests and hillsides of the Périgord Natural Park.
The foodie scene is equally laid-back. Savour lazy lunches featuring local duck, black truffles, and goat’s cheese. For the adventurous, there’s even the opportunity to hunt for these delicacies yourself. The region’s wine is second to none, with renowned grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chenin Blanc playing a significant role in its wine culture.
The Dordogne is steeped in history. Castles and châteaux are scattered throughout the region, nestled in enchanting medieval villages. For a glimpse into ancient history, visit the remarkable prehistoric cave drawings of Lascaux and Grotte de Rouffignac.
