Villa Carine enjoys an idyllic setting in a leafy hamlet looking out over the sea and the tree-filled hills. You can easily reach nearby beaches and spend your days visiting some of the Italian Riviera’s finest towns and cities such as Portofino, Rapallo and Genoa. The closest beaches to the house are Pozzetto Spiaggia and Spiaggia Marina di Bardi, each just 4km away. Both of these beaches are pretty, pebbled coves with sun loungers on offer and cafés and restaurants nearby. These are just two of the many beaches dotted around Rapallo Bay; lovely beaches are available in San Michele di Pagana, which is 7km away. From Rapallo, it is also possible to take boat trips and ferries to some amazing seaside villages and towns such as La Spezia and Monterosso. Aside from the incredible beaches and the extensive hiking routes in the area, you can explore a wide array of villages, towns and cities without having to travel far. The closest amenities to the home are either in Rapallo or a seaside village called Zoagli which is also a mere 5km away. Zoagli is a great place to spend the day; there are beaches, shops, cafes and restaurants here. The village has a long history and became wealthy due to its silk manufacturing industry which resulted in many of the fine buildings you see being constructed over time. You can see examples of the exquisite, historic fabrics displayed in the village. Another attraction here is a unique cliffside walkway known as the pedestrian cliff which offers unrivalled views and walks up to Canevaro Castle. At equal distance to the home is the ancient port town of Rapallo which is a much larger town with many more shops and eateries. As you enter Rapallo, you will see one of the notable attractions, a coastal castle known as “the Old Castle on the Sea”. This wonderful castle juts into the sea and was built to protect the town from attacks in the 16th century. You can look around the castle and the museum it now houses for free. Another key sight is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montallegro, a staggering 16th-century church filled with historical artworks. It would be a shame to spend your holiday on the Italian Riviera without visiting Portofino, the much-loved port town 12km away. This exclusive town has fine-dining restaurants, designer stores and up-market cocktail bars. If you would like an afternoon of rest, you could also spend time in one of the town’s day spas and treat yourself to a massage. In addition to its glamorous side, there is another side to Portofino; while here, you can also follow trails into the protected parklands and wooded hills or book on to a dolphin spotting trip in the bay.
