Villa Galesano is ideally located in the heart of the Puglian countryside, equidistant from the resort town of Taranto on the Ionian west coast, and bustling Brindisi on the Adriatic east coast of the heel of Italy. The nearest international airport is at Brindisi, a scenic thirty kilometre drive away. The villa is on the outskirts of the small town of Oria, with its narrow cobbled streets, and squares, where you will find welcoming bars and restaurants, and provisions for your stay. Take time to explore the Rococo cathedral, capped with a mosaic dome, and antique clock tower, and don’t miss the annual medieval Palio horse race held every August. The nearest beach is an 23 kilometres drive to the golden sands of Campomarino di Maruggio, and thirty kilometres to the crystal clear waters of Porto Cesareo. The area is renowned for its hiking and cycling trails, or take a walk around the local vineyards, and sample the renowned Primitivo. Go west and spend the day in Taranto, walk the city walls, see the Aragonese castle, visit the Archeological Museum, marvel at the Romanesque cathedral, before enjoying some freshly caught sea food by the sea shore. Go east for a day in Brindisi, see the ancient Roman columns, admire the beauty of the cathedral, visit the archaeological site of San Pietro degli Schiavoni, then walk along the waterfront and enjoy an aperitivo as you watch the sun set.
