Rent Villa Il Piccio Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
The minimalist Villa Il Piccio sleeps up to four guests and is nestled in the beautiful surroundings of the Sicilian countryside. Situated on a country road, you will be under a five-minute drive from all the amenities you’ll need, as well as a terrific beach resort. The open-plan living area is flooded with glorious natural light throughout the day, thanks to a sliding patio door and oversized window. Both of these offer fantastic views of the dual-level terrace, pool and countryside expanse beyond. The kitchen is effortlessly cool, with its industrial-style, stainless steel cabinets and breakfast bar, where you can take morning coffee while deliberating over a day at the beach or a day in your saltwater pool. According to Villa Il Piccio’s designers, the carefully curated interior is deliberately understated, so as to isolate guests from the stress of daily life. The bathroom features a designer-inspired and luxuriously deep thousand masonry bathtub with shower and a washbasin in the same material. There are two double bedrooms at Villa Il Piccio, both of which feature sumptuously comfortable beds and, like the rest of the property, air conditioning – keeping this villa’s interior feeling just as fresh and cool as it looks. The upper terrace has a shaded dining table with delightful views of the countryside, steps down to the poolside terrace, which features sun loungers with parasols and drinks tables. The saltwater pool itself is a delight, with gentle submerged steps tempting you in to cool off from the sun. There’s also a hot water outdoor shower to freshen up under, as you contemplate the evening ahead. The intelligent design continues to the left of the pool as you exit the garden down a ramp, leading to your private parking area. The region’s fantastic beaches are only a short drive away, with absolute seclusion and astonishing natural beauty at Calamosche, with a more vibrant experience at the white sands of Fontane Bianche. Guided hiking and cycling tours are available to book too, both great ways of getting up close and personal with the picturesque joys of the Sicilian countryside and its phenomenal coastline. Those with a head for heights can take a cable car to Mount Etna, the majestic dormant volcano that dominates the eastern landscape.

Compared to the pebbled beaches of northern Sicily, the Syracuse region boasts a range of sandy alternatives for sun worshippers. A twenty-minute drive from Villa Il Piccio will bring you to the blue sea and white sands of Fontane Bianche, known as the ‘Caribbean of Syracuse’. This resort takes its name from the plentiful freshwater springs in the seabed, and features three kilometres of imposing cliffs alongside its fabulous beach. If you need to burn off some energy, you can enjoy a round of golf, a game of volleyball, or even enjoy some water sports at various points along the beach. You will find plenty of cafés, pizzerias and restaurants serving excellent local dishes, along with evening entertainment around the bars and clubs. Another terrific coastal option, just fourteen kilometres south of Villa Il Piccio, is the Spiaggia di Calamosche, proclaimed in 2022 by The Guardian to be one of Italy’s top five beaches. This paradisiacal hidden gem, a romantic destination favoured by many visiting couples, delivers a symphony of sensory delight. A sense of calm, much like at Villa Il Piccio, is guaranteed, with the beach’s car park situated a kilometre from its golden sands. The comfortable walk is a real pleasure, as well as ensuring the beach doesn’t become congested. We recommend stopping in Noto before reaching Calamosche, where you will find plenty of little shops selling picnic food and refreshments, as well the chance to admire some stunning Baroque architecture. Once you’ve arrived at the beach, a blissful day awaits, with relaxing swims in the calm, clear waters – in between sunbathing sessions. The lightest of exertion can be had if you pack a snorkel – the two promontories at either side of the beach feature beautiful caves and ravines – adding, if one were needed, another layer of beauty to this understated coastal delight. If a more energetic day trip takes your fancy, put on your best walking boots, hit the road early and take the hour’s drive to Catania, where you can catch a bus and join a guided hiking tour of the geological marvel that is Mount Etna. Be sure to get online and book ahead, as there are numerous exciting options, including an additional tour of the incredible Alcantara Gorges, along with wine tasting and even a sunset tour of the volcano.
