Teaming with activities, there is so much to do in the national park, including bouldering, climbing, rafting, and mountain biking. Hiking is also a great way to see the limestone canyons filled with fauna, flora and native species.
A thirty-minute drive away is the captivating city of Zadar. Renowned for its beautiful beaches, history and creative architecture, Zadar is a great day out for the whole family to experience. The old town is filled with historic architecture stemming from the roman empire. Zadar is home to the Museum of Ancient Glass and one of the last glassblowers in the area. Enjoy a tour of the history of glass blowing in the area, then venture to the upper floor to see an in-house glass blower, transforming hot glass into souvenirs, vases and jugs.
Make your way to the seafront and experience the music of the sea. Located near the city’s old town, the sea organ is an architectural sound art carved into steps on the sea’s edge and includes 35 ‘organ’ pipes. Commissioned in 2005, the sea organ was created to join the locals to the Adriatic Sea.
Travelling further into Croatia’s main countryside, you’ll discover one of the UNESCO world heritage sites, Plitvice Lakes. Turquoise pools surrounded by waterfalls and greenery are certainly a wonder to see. Listen to the rush of water as you travel along one of many hiking trails weaving between the water and trees.
