The Pimalai Resort is nestled on the fine sandy coastline of Koh Lanta Yai. The island’s name was officially declared to be "Lanta" about one hundred years ago, during the reign of King Rama the Fifth. The first governor’s office, built in classic Thai style, is a two-storey wooden house in Old Town Lanta today as the beautiful Lanta Community Museum with free admission. The two main islands are Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi, connected by a bridge.
