This property enjoys a blissful location in Koh Lanta in southern Krabi Province.Koh Lanta’s archipelago comprises fifty-two islands, some of which are tiny and uninhabited. The Pimalai Resort is nestled on the fine sandy coastline of Koh Lanta Yai.The island’s name was officially declared to be "Lanta" about one hundred years ago, during the reign of King Rama the Fifth. The first governor’s office, built in classic Thai style, is a two-storey wooden house still standing in Old Town Lanta today as the beautiful Lanta Community Museum with free admission. The two main islands are Koh Lanta Yai and Koh Lanta Noi, which are connected by a bridge. Pimalai enjoys a private speed boat and van exclusively for their guests to travel from and to the Krabi mainland. Koh Lanta’s history stems from traders who came by boat from China and the Arab continent, initially using the island as a stopover point. Koh Lanta’s Old Town on the island’s East coast is still home to some of the first traditional Chinese long houses built here. Koh Lanta Yai has a very diverse cultural mix with Thai-Muslim, Thai-Chinese and the original Sea Gypsies, all having lived on the island harmoniously for hundreds of years. Koh Lanta is very special, with pristine sandy beaches, jungle, mountains, caves and waterfalls. Off the coast are large limestone rock formations, The Talabeng Islands, where you will discover a hidden beach and cave and almost one thousand acres of lush mangrove forest. From Koh Lanta, you will enjoy island-hopping, visiting Phi Phi, Koh Yao Noi, Railay, Koh Mook, Koh Kradan, Koh Ngai, Koh Lipe and other islands. Koh Lanta Noi is a land forgotten by tourists, sprinkled with rubber plantations, palm trees, deserted castaway beaches and local Muslim fishing villages. The mesmerising Krabi Province is an outstanding natural beauty dotted with classic virgin beaches fringed with towering limestone formations, palm-fringed beaches, waterfalls, caves and strange rock formations. It enjoys a relaxed, chilled vibe. Much of the province has been designated a national park. The Hat Noppharat Thara-Ko Phi Phi National Park incorporates many of the mainland beaches, over eighty smaller islands and the Phi Phi islands, made famous as the idyllic location for the Hollywood film ‘the Beach" and popular with yachtsmen, scuba-divers, snorkellers and day-trippers from Phuket. As well as beautiful and relaxing scenery, Krabi offers an adventure playground with kayaking, sailing, birdwatching, snorkelling, island hopping and sightseeing on the agenda. Khao Phanom Bencha and Than Bokk-horani offer inland scenic attractions, including waterfalls and caves, and opportunities for trekking, birdwatching and eco-tours. One of the most iconic spots in Krabi, Railay Beach is a stunning peninsula surrounded by towering limestone cliffs. Accessible only by boat due to the limestone formations, Railay is a rock-climbing enthusiast’s dream and a sunbather’s paradise. The bustling beach town of Ao Nang serves as the primary gateway to the stunning islands of the Andaman Sea. With its vibrant nightlife, eclectic shopping scene and excellent Thai restaurants, Ao Nang is lively. The provincial capital, Krabi Town, is a delightful riverside town that provides a glimpse into local life. You can visit the vibrant night market, explore the Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple) and wander through the riverside streets to experience the authentic charm of Krabi. Wat Tham Sua is famous for its tiger paw prints and offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Wat Kaew Korawaram, located in Krabi Town, is an elegant Buddhist temple with intricate architecture and serene surroundings. Visitors enjoy beautifully adorned pagodas and serene temple grounds. You can escape into nature by visiting the Klong Thom Hot Springs and the nearby Emerald Pool. The natural hot springs surround the lush rainforest, providing a soothing and rejuvenating experience. This area is fantastic for diving opportunities. Koh Haa is simply stunning in every way and is the most popular diving and snorkelling site. It is famous for the "Cathedral", where divers can explore the mysterious two large caverns formed on one of the islands. There are also stunning coral walls, a beautiful lagoon for easy diving, standing fish, and lots of macro and unusual aquatic life. The lagoon at Koh Haa is gorgeous for snorkelling. Hin Daeng / Hin Muang is probably Thailand’s most famous dive site and the most spectacular site accessible from Koh Lanta as a day trip. These giant pinnacles, in the middle of the Andaman Sea, offer dramatic underwater scenery with steep walls covered in soft red and purple corals. The Koh Rok islands also have impressive dive sites suitable for divers of all levels. Koh Bida Nok/Nai and Hin Bida are in the Phi Phi National Marine Park,, easily accessible from Koh Lanta. There are plenty of opportunities to join a diving trip from the resort.
