Of course, no holiday is complete without a visit to the beach! The island of Krk has a Blue Flag, which is the best evidence of clean sea and coast and high standards of excellence. With so many beaches from public or hotel beaches, some pebbled, some rocky, some sandy, and some that can only be reached by boat, you will be spoiled for choice. Depending on what you are looking for, Krk has beaches for the family, dog friendly, energetic and even the naturist. For those who love the water, snorkelling is one of the best ways to discover the underwater world, and if you want to take it to the next level, scuba diving is also available.
Although an island with everything to offer, you may be tempted by the nearby islands. How about taking a ferry to Cres? The closest island to Krk is known for its secluded bays and coves. The jagged, rocky coast encircles the island whilst ancient forests rise inland. Influenced by the Venetians, Cres Town is the busiest spot. Many say it mimics an Italian town, and you will see for yourself as you wander through the quaint streets, soaking in the years of history.
The Island of Krk is well known for its cuisine. The local lamb is renowned as some of the best in the Adriatic and goes down well with the locally produced wine. No trip to Krk would be complete without sampling the Imbrijagoni cookies. Made super special with the addition of anis brandy, they are a delight to savour!
