Smaller, more casual, and much less crowded than the larger main island of Malta, Gozo is the perfect place to get away. And perhaps the best way to explore the island is on a guided ATV tour. These tours make all the stops to visit some of the island’s best sights, including the salt pans, Sanap Cliffs, Inland Sea, Tal-Mixta Cave, and more). So, if you’d like to come to terms with the island quickly so that you can spend the rest of your time on the beach, this is the activity for you.
The Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular attractions in Malta and is only a short boat ride from Gozo. There’s an inexpensive ferry that leaves from Gozo, and some of these trips include visits to the caves on Comino. You can also take private tours of either 3 hours or up to 7 hours, which include food and drinks.
Wied Il-Ghasri (15-minute drive) is perhaps the most unique swimming spot you’ll ever find. Situated in a winding gorge between orange cliff faces, the vivid green water reached by a safe rock staircase is picturesque and perfect for a dip.
If you’re looking to partake in some water sports, Hondoq Ir-Rummien Beach (30-minute drive) is the place to be. It’s a small, sandy beach with amazing turquoise waters and Joyride Watersports – where you can rent canoes, kayaks, jet skis and many other fun water-based toys.
History buffs will be interested in exploring the medieval citadel in Victoria (a 9-minute drive). The first fortifications in the hill at Victoria date back to 1500 BC, while the current structure dates back to the 1600s. The citadel boasts an Old Prison, The Battery, and Old Grain Silos, all with great views of the island.
Wine lovers will be keen to check out the nearby Tal-Massar Winery (3-minute drive). This beautiful vineyard crafts various wines and offers a fantastic tasting session for visitors.
