Enjoying an enviable position on the edge of the harbour, Vista Banus II is just a few seconds’ walk from the waterfront, where you wander between the impressive yachts and sailboats. Once an old fishing port, the town was developed in the 1960s and now plays host to glamorous restaurants and bars, as well as some of the area’s most exclusive hotels. Enjoy a walk through the streets lined with fashionable boutiques and galleries, or take a leisurely lunch beside the water and soak up the lively atmosphere. For those looking to party, the town has a buzzing nightlife, with bars and clubs open until the early hours, or head up to the Sky Lounge, where you can sit on the roof terrace and admire the wonderful views out to the mountains in the distance.
Situated in the middle of the Costa del Sol, the surrounding coastline is lined with long golden sands, offering plenty of options to spend a relaxing day beside the sea. To the east of the marina, Playa Puerto Banus is a popular spot for families with a gentle shore and calm waters, whilst to the west, Playa San Pedro de Alcantara fits a long stretch where you can walk along the sand and enjoy a refreshing swim. For an afternoon snack, a handful of chiringuitos are located nearby, or you can sit in the evening and watch the sunset over the sea whilst sharing a delicious plate of fresh sardines.
From Puerto Banus, the Paseo Maritimo runs along the coast to Marbella, where you can join the local joggers and walkers and take a healthy stroll along the seafront. Alternatively, hop on the Banus-Marbella ferry to enjoy a boat trip up the coast and take in the scenery from a different perspective. Marbella itself has plenty to offer, with its lively streets composed of traditional barrios and chic avenues. Explore the Old Town to discover its charming architecture and shaded squares, and be sure to stop in Plaza de los Naranjos to enjoy a drink on one of the terraces and soak up the daily activity. Plenty of tapas bars dot the streets where you can stop for a bite to eat or seek out some shade and head to the wonderful Parque de la Constitucion. Once part of a private residence, the leafy setting offers a respite from the city, inviting you to escape the heat and enjoy a picnic beneath the trees. The Parque del Alameda is also worth visiting, with its shaded avenues adorned with colourful tiles, or wander along the Avenida del Mar and discover a series of bronze sculptures designed by Salvador Dali.
Whilst known for its glorious beaches, you can also explore the region’s beautiful countryside and visit the majestic Sierra Blanca mountains that rise up away from the coast. Take a gentle walk through the foothills and enjoy a peaceful afternoon exploring the shade pine groves, or opt for a more challenging route and climb to the summit of the impressive La Concha to be rewarded with spectacular views down to the sea. There are plenty of well-marked trails, making it easy to spend a day discovering the rocky slopes or take a more gentle walk along the Guadalevin River, where you can follow an undemanding path that winds through the picturesque canyon. Dip your feet in the natural pools to be refreshed by the cool water, or be daring and join the locals for a bracing swim.
