The jewel of the Caribbean and one of the fastest-growing cities in the US, Miami is an international hub of art, fashion, food, and coastal lifestyle. Thankfully, Gladeview House’s central location makes it an excellent base to explore the Magic City.
There are many incredible sights within walking distance or a short drive from the villa, including Vizcaya Museum & Gardens (15-minute drive), a stunning Gilded Age estate surrounded by 10 acres of gardens and a wonderful place to explore close to home. And the Venetian Pool (19-minute drive), one of the most beautiful public pools in the world.
The nearby Coral Gables neighbourhood itself (17-minute drive) is renowned for its trendy boutiques and eateries. Stroll the Miracle Mile to take in its bevvy of art galleries, unique shops, design studios and spas.
For those looking to experience Miami’s famous nightlife, Biscayne Blvd (8-minute drive) is close to hand and a go-to spot for a night out thanks to its plethora of bars, lounges, and restaurants.
Of course, a trip to Miami would only be complete with a trip to the beach. The iconic South Beach (16-minute drive) is not far away. Spend the day in the ocean, taking in the stunning scenery and fabulous people. And if staying close to shore isn’t satisfying enough for you, perhaps you’d like to hop onboard a sportfishing boat and head offshore for some deep-sea fishing.
You’re likely to fall in love with Miami’s timeless aesthetic, and there’s a fantastic Art Deco walking tour that explores South Beach’s iconic architectural district with its colourful buildings. Remember to check out the Miami Design District (7-minute drive), where you can find the Institute of Contemporary Art. Just north of the Design District, you’ll find Upper Buena Vista. This funky neighbourhood’s focal point is a majestic 120-year-old oak tree that serves as the centre of its trendy shopping area.
And how could you visit Miami without indulging in the city’s incredible food scene? Foodies will love the Little Havana (10-minute drive) food and cultural tour, which explores some of the city’s coolest neighbourhoods and best Cuban treats, including strong cafecitos, over-the-counter croquetas, and, of course, Cubanos.
