Located on Pag, the Croatian island with the longest coastline, Villa Isaia is well-situated in a small, serene village but still close to the famous activity and nightlife of Zrće.
Surrounded by the crystalline waters of the Adriatic Sea, the island beckons with its pristine pebble beaches, inviting travellers to bask in the Mediterranean sun.
The town of Novalja (a 13-minute drive) is the closest port of call for all your essentials, thanks to its bevvy of supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants. The town also has abundant history, including 4th-century Christian basilicas and a unique Roman aqueduct carved out of solid rock dating back to the 1st century and measuring over a kilometre in length as it brought fresh water to the town from the Novalja fields.
While neighbouring Zrće is known as the nightlife hub where top DJs attract planeloads of revellers to Pag, Novalja has its own blossoming nightlife. Make sure to check out some live acts at the Big Yellow House.
Zrće is not only the nightlife hub of Pag but perhaps of all Croatia. There is a host of beachfront venues to attend (if you can get in), many of which have been functioning for decades. Try out Kalypso, which often hosts major DJs and events such as Sonus, Hideout and Black Sheep.
Before international DJs started playing on the island, Pag was predominately known for its cheese and lamb. Pag cheese comes from a local breed of small sheep whose salty milk is evocative of the Adriatic isle. A great place to sample Pag cheese is at Trapula Wine & Cheese bar in Pag Town (39-minute drive). But don’t forget to try the island’s other speciality – Pag lamb – a spit-roasted delight usually served with potatoes and found all over the island in restaurants and even on the side of the road at family-run farms.
